Notice of the making of this Statutory Instrument was published in

“Iris Oifigiúil” of 2nd January, 2015.

I, LEO VARADKAR, Minister for Health, in exercise of the power conferred on me by section 1 (2) of the Health (Miscellaneous Provisions) Act 2014 (No. 33 of 2014), hereby order as follows:

1. This Order may be cited as the Health (Miscellaneous Provisions) Act 2014 (Commencement) Order 2014.

2. The 31st day of December 2014 is appointed as the day on which the following provisions of the Health (Miscellaneous Provisions) Act 2014 (No. 33 of 2014) come into operation:

(a) Part 1, other than section 2;

(b) Part 2, other than section—

(i)6(a)(iii),

(ii)12(b), insofar as it relates to the insertion of subsection (1B) of section 26 of the Health and Social Care Professionals Act 2005 (No. 27 of 2005),

(iii)21, and

(iv)23.

EXPLANATORY NOTE

(This note is not part of the Instrument and does not purport to be a legal interpretation.)

This Order commences certain provisions of Parts 1 and 2 of the Health (Miscellaneous Provisions) Act 2014 (No. 33 of 2014) with effect from 31 December 2014 for the purposes of amending the Health and Social Care Professionals Act 2005 in order to apply that Act to the health or social care professions of optometrist and dispensing optician, to permit a registration board to be the registration board of two or more designated professions, to introduce uniformity between that Act and certain provisions of other Acts which regulate health or social care professions that are not regulated by that Act, and to provide for related matters.
