S.I. No. 528/2014 - Health Insurance Act 1994 (Section 17) Levy Regulations 2014.

I, LEO VARADKAR, Minister for Health, in exercise of the powers conferred on me by section 3 (as amended by section 4 of the Health Insurance (Amendment) Act 2012 (No.45 of 2012)) and section 17 (as amended by section 16 of the Health Insurance (Amendment) Act 2012 ) of the Health Insurance Act 1994 (No. 16 of 1994), hereby make the following Regulations:

1. These Regulations may be cited as the Health Insurance Act 1994 (Section 17) Levy Regulations 2014.

2. In these Regulations “levy” means the amount payable by a registered undertaking pursuant to section 17 of the Health Insurance Act 1994 (No.16 of 1994).

3. The percentage of the assessable amount hereby prescribed for the purpose of the levy is—

(a) in relation to the quarter ending on 31 March 2015 and each quarter thereafter including the quarter ending on 31 December 2016, 0.01%, and

(b) in relation to the quarter ending on 31 March 2017 and each quarter thereafter, 0.09%.

4. The following are revoked:

(a) The Health Insurance Act 1994 (Section 17) Levy Regulations 2001 ( S.I. No. 255 of 2001 ); and

(b) The Health Insurance Act 1994 (Section 17) Levy (Amendment) Regulations 2010 ( S.I. No. 539 of 2010 ).

These Regulations prescribe the percentage of premium income to be paid by registered health insurers to meet the costs and expenses incurred by the Health Insurance Authority in the performance of its functions.
