EXPLANATORY NOTE

(This note is not part of the Instrument and does not purport to be a legal interpretation.)

These Regulations amend article 23(3) of the Road Traffic (Traffic and Parking) Regulations 1997. The provision of the traffic signs, RUS 011 (No straight ahead), RUS 012 (No turn right) or RUS 013 (No turn left), indicates that a road traffic regulation is being applied to prohibit traffic from moving in the direction indicated on the sign. If the ban on traffic from turning right, from turning left or from going straight ahead is not to apply at certain periods or is not to apply to certain classes of vehicles, the period(s) or the class of vehicles concerned must be indicated on information plate(s) accompanying the relevant traffic sign.
