THE LAW SOCIETY OF IRELAND in exercise of the powers conferred on it by Section 82 (as amended by Section 25 of the Solicitors (Amendment) Act 1960 ) of the Solicitors Act 1954 and the Sixth Schedule thereto (as extended pursuant to Section 66 of the Solicitors (Amendment) Act 1994 by The Solicitors Acts 1954 to 2008 (Sixth Schedule) Regulations 2011) hereby make the following Regulations:

Citation and commencement

1. (a) These Regulations may be cited as The Solicitors Acts 1954 to 2008 (Fees) Regulations 2011.

(b) These Regulations shall come into operation on the first day of February 2011 and any previous fees regulations made by the Society to the extent that they are inconsistent with these Regulations shall then to the extent of any such inconsistency be no longer applicable.

Interpretation

2. (a) The words and phrases in these Regulations and in the Schedule hereto shall have the meanings assigned by the Solicitors Acts 1954 to 2008 and (except insofar as may be inconsistent with the provisions of the Solicitors Acts 1954 to 2008) The Solicitors Acts 1954 to 2008 (Sixth Schedule) Regulations 2011 ( S.I. No. 604 of 2010 ).

(b) The Interpretation Act 2005 applies to the interpretation of these Regulations as it applies to the interpretation of an Act of the Oireachtas.

Fees for Applications

3. (a) Subject to clause (b) of this Regulation, from the date on which these Regulations shall come into operation the fees specified in the Schedule hereto shall be paid to the Society in respect of the applications referred to therein.

(b) The Society may, in its discretion in any individual instance, waive in whole or in part the fees specified in respect of any one or more of the applications referred to in the Schedule hereto.
