S.I. No. 367/2010 - Petroleum (Exploration and Extraction) Safety Act 2010 (Commencement of Certain Provisions) (No. 2) Order 2010.


Notice of the making of this Statutory Instrument was published in

“Iris Oifigiúil” of 27th July, 2010.

I, EAMON RYAN, Minister for Communications, Energy and Natural Resources, in exercise of the powers conferred on me by section 1 (2) of the Petroleum (Exploration and Extraction) Safety Act 2010 (No. 4 of 2010), hereby order as follows:

1. This Order may be cited as the Petroleum (Exploration and Extraction) Safety Act 2010 (Commencement of Certain Provisions)(No. 2) Order 2010.

2. The 23rd day of July 2010 is appointed as the day on which the following provisions of section 3 of the Petroleum (Exploration and Extraction) Safety Act 2010 (No. 4 of 2010) come into operation:

(a) section 3(a),

(b) section 3(c),

(c) section 3(d), except in so far as it relates to the following provisions of Part IIA of the Electricity Regulation Act 1999 (No. 23 of 1999), namely, sections 13D to 13F, 13I and 13J and sections 13L to 13AD.

EXPLANATORY NOTE

(This note is not part of the Instrument and does not purport to be a legal interpretation.)

This Order brings into operation on 23rd July 2010, sections 3 (a) and 3 (c) of the Petroleum (Exploration and Extraction) Safety Act, 2010 and the following provisions of section 3 (d) of the Petroleum (Exploration and Extraction) Safety Act, 2010 inserted by Part IIA of the Electricity Regulation Act, 1999 i.e. sections 13A to 13C, 13G, 13H and 13K for the purpose of assigning responsibility for the regulation of upstream petroleum activities with respect to safety to the Commission for Energy Regulation.
