S.I. No. 121/2009 - Misuse of Drugs Act 1977 (Controlled Drugs) (Declaration) Order 2009


Notice of the making of this Statutory Instrument was published in

“Iris Oifigiúil” of 7th April, 2009.

The Government, in exercise of the powers conferred on them by section 2 (2) of the Misuse of Drugs Act 1977 (No. 12 of 1977) and for the purpose of giving effect to Council Decision 2008/206/JHA of 8 March 2008 on defining 1-benzylpiperazine (BZP) as a new psychoactive substance which is to be made subject to control measures and criminal provisions 1 , hereby order as follows:

1. This Order may be cited as the Misuse of Drugs Act 1977 (Controlled Drugs) (Declaration) Order 2009.

2. It is hereby declared that 1-benzylpiperazine (BZP) is a controlled drug for the purposes of the Misuse of Drugs Act 1977 (No. 12 of 1977).
