The Government, in exercise of the powers conferred on them by section 2 (2) of the Misuse of Drugs Act 1977 (No. 12 of 1977) and for the purpose of giving effect to Council Decision 2008/206/JHA of 8 March 2008 on defining 1-benzylpiperazine (BZP) as a new psychoactive substance which is to be made subject to control measures and criminal provisions 1 , hereby order as follows: | ||
1. This Order may be cited as the Misuse of Drugs Act 1977 (Controlled Drugs) (Declaration) Order 2009. | ||
2. It is hereby declared that 1-benzylpiperazine (BZP) is a controlled drug for the purposes of the Misuse of Drugs Act 1977 (No. 12 of 1977). | ||
