Garda Síochána Act 2005 (Commencement)(Section 8) Order 2007

I, Michael McDowell, Minister for Justice, Equality and Law Reform, in exercise of the powers conferred on me by section 2 of the Garda Síochána Act 2005 (No. 20 of 2005), hereby order as follows:

1. This Order may be cited as the Garda Síochána Act 2005 (Commencement) (Section 8) Order 2007.

2. The 1 day of February 2007 is appointed as the day on which section 8 of the Garda Síochána Act 2005 comes into operation.

This Statutory Instrument brings Section 8 of the Garda Síochána Act 2005, which provides a new statutory basis for the prosecution of offences by members of the Garda Síochána, into force from 1 February, 2007.
