BOVINE DISEASES (LEVIES) REGULATIONS 2006

I, MARY COUGHLAN, Minister for Agriculture and Food, in exercise of the powers conferred on me by sections 2(2) and 19(1) of the Bovine Diseases (Levies) Act, 1979 (No. 26 of 1979), (as adapted by the Agriculture, Food and Rural Development (Alteration of Name of Department and Title of Minister) Order, 2002 ( S.I. No. 306 of 2002 )), hereby make the following Regulations with respect to which, pursuant to section 2(5) of that Act, a draft has been laid before each House of the Oireachtas and a resolution approving of the draft has been passed by each such House:

1.  These Regulations may be cited as the Bovine Diseases (Levies) Regulations, 2006.

These Regulations come into operation on the 1st day of January 2007.

2.  The prescribed amount of levy payable under section 2 of the Bovine Diseases (Levies) Act, 1979 (No. 26 of 1979) shall be-

(a)   as regards milk, 0.06cent per litre and

(b)   as regards animals slaughtered or exported live, €1.27 per animal.

3.  The Bovine Diseases (Levies) Regulations, 2004 ( S.I. No 838 of 2004 ) are revoked.

These Regulations, which come into effect on 1st January 2007 prescribe new rates of disease levies on milk for processing and on bovine animals slaughtered or exported live.
