S.I. No. 419 of 2005 .

EUROPEAN COMMUNITIES (COUNTER TERRORISM FINANCIAL SANCTIONS) (REVOCATION) REGULATIONS, 2005.

I, BRIAN COWEN, Minister for Finance, in exercise of the powers conferred on me by section 3 of the European Communities Act 1972 (No. 27 of 1972), hereby make the following regulations:

1.  These Regulations may be cited as the European Communities (Counter Terrorism Financial Sanctions (Revocation) Regulations, 2005.

2.  The European Communities (Counter Terrorism Financial Sanctions) Regulations 2004 ( S.I. No. 459 of 2004 are revoked.

EXPLANATORY NOTE.

(This note is not part of the Statutory Instrument and does not purport to be a legal interpretation.)

The Regulations revoked provide for penalties for breach of financial sanctions imposed by Council Regulation (EC No. 2580/2001 of 27 December 2001, as amended by Council Regulation (EC) No. 745/2003 of 28 April 2003, in respect of persons, groups and entities listed in Council Decision 2004/306/EC of 2 April 2004. Future Regulations providing for these penalties will be made under section 42 of the Criminal Justice (Terrorist Offences) Act, 2005 (No. 2 of 2005).
