Investor Compensation Act 1998 (Section 18(4)) (Prescription of Bodies and Individuals) (Amendment) Regulations 2005

I, Brian Cowen, Minister for Finance, in exercise of the powers conferred on me by section 18(4) of the Investor Compensation Act 1998 (No. 37 of 1998) (as amended by the Central Bank and Financial Services Authority of Ireland Act 2003 (No. 12 of 2003)), hereby make the following regulations:

1.  These Regulations may be cited as the Investor Compensation Act 1998 (Section 18(4)) (Prescription of Bodies and Individuals) (Amendment) Regulations 2005.

2.  The Investor Compensation Act 1998 (Section 18(4)) (Prescription of Bodies and Individuals) Regulations 2004 ( S.I. No. 570 of 2004 ) are amended by the substitution of the following for paragraphs (c) and (d) of Regulation 2:

“(c)        Ms Gina Quin, Dublin Chamber of Commerce, 7 Clare Street, Dublin 2;

(d)       Mr Mark Redmond, Irish Taxation Institute, 19 Sandymount Avenue Dublin 4;”,

and the said Regulation 2, as so amended, is set out in the Table to this Regulation.

TABLE

2.  For the purposes of section 18(4) of the Investor Compensation Act 1998 (No. 37 of 1998 (as amended by the Central Bank and Financial Services Authority of Ireland Act 2003 (No. 12 of 2003)), the following bodies and individuals are prescribed as bodies and individuals that appear to the Minister to represent the interests of clients of investment firms:

(a)            The Consumers Association of Ireland;

(b)            The Office of the Director of Consumer Affairs;

(c)            Ms Gina Quin, Dublin Chamber of Commerce, 7 Clare Street, Dublin 2;

(d)            Mr Mark Redmond, Irish Taxation Institute, 19 Sandymount Avenue Dublin 4;

(e)            Ms Inge Clissmann, P.O. Box 4460, Law Library Building 158/9 Church Street, Dublin 7.
