S.I. No. 369/2003 - National Milk Agency (Conduct of Elections) (Amendment) Regulations 2003


I, Joe Walsh, Minister for Agriculture and Food, in exercise of the powers conferred on me by section 20 of the Milk (Regulation of Supply) Act, (No. 25 of 1994) and paragraph 5 of the Schedule to that Act (as amended by section 4 of the Milk (Regulation of Supply)(Amendment) Act 1996 (No. 41 of 1996) hereby make the following regulations:

1.         These Regulations may be cited as the National Milk Agency (Conduct of Elections)(Amendment) Regulations 2003.

In these Regulations the “Principal Regulations” means the National Milk Agency (Conduct of Election) Regulations, 1997 ( S. I. No. 185 of 1997 )

The National Milk Agency (Conduct of Elections) Regulations 1997 ( S. I. No. 185 of 1997 and these Regulations may be cited together as the National Milk Agency (Conduct of Elections) Regulations 1997 and 2003.

Regulation 4 of the Principal Regulations is amended by the substitution of the following paragraph for paragraph (2) of that Regulation:

“(2)     (a)      The registered producers who, on the first day of the month next preceding the month in which the election day falls, were suppliers of raw milk for heat treatment for liquid consumption with one or more of the following, namely -

1.         Connacht Gold Co-operative Society Limited,

2.         Glanbia Foods Society Limited,

3.         Glenisk Limited,

4.         Glenveagh Agricultural Society Limited,

5.         Milburn Dairy Limited,

6.         Town of Monaghan Co-operative Agricultural & Dairy Society Limited,

7.         Tullamore Dairies Limited,

shall comprise a constituency and be entitled to elect 3 producer members to the National Milk Agency.

(b) The registered producers who, on the first day of the month next preceding the month in which the election day falls, were suppliers of raw milk for heat treatment for liquid consumption with one or more of the following namely -

1.         Arrabawn Co-operative Society Limited,

2.         Clona Dairy Products Limited,

3.         Dairygold Co-operative Society Limited,

4.         Kerry Agri Business Dairies,

5.     Lee Strand Co-operative Creamery Limited,

6.     Milltown Farm Dairies Limited,

7.     North Cork Co-operative Creameries Limited,

8.     Thurles Co-operative Creamery Limited,

9.     Wexford Creamery Limited,

shall comprise a constituency and shall be entitled to elect 2 producer members to the National Milk Agency.”.
