S.I. No. 75/2001 - Road Traffic (Licensing of Trailers and Semi-Trailers) (Amendment) Regulations, 2001


The Minister for the Environment and Local Government in exercise of the powers conferred on him by section 5 of the Road Traffic Act, 1961 (No. 24 of 1961) and section 10 of the Road Traffic Act, 1968 (No. 25 of 1968) hereby makes the following Regulations:-

1.       (1)     These Regulations may be cited as the Road Traffic (Licensing of Trailers and Semi-Trailers)(Amendment) Regulations, 2001.

(2)     The Road Traffic (Licensing of Trailers and Semi-Trailers) Regulations, 1982 to 1998 and these Regulations shall be construed as one and cited together as the Road Traffic (Licensing of Trailers and Semi-Trailers) Regulations, 1982 to 2001.

(3)     These Regulations shall come into operation on the 1st day of April, 2001 and shall apply to licences taken out for periods beginning on or after the said date.

2.       The Road Traffic (Licensing of Trailers and Semi-Trailers) Regulations, 1982 (as amended by the Road Traffic (Licensing of Trailers and Semi-Trailers)(Amendment) Regulations, 1998 ( S.I. No. 207 of 1998 )) are hereby amended:

(a) by the substitution of the following for article 21:

“21. The fee payable to a licensing authority in respect of the first licensing of a vehicle shall be as specified in the Second Schedule to these Regulations.”, and

(b) by the deletion of the following from the Second Schedule:

“fee for subsequent licensing - £25”.

EXPLANATORY NOTE

These Regulations abolish the annual £25 registration fee for trailers and semi-trailers for licences taken out for periods on or after the 1st April, 2001.
