S.I. No. 594/2001 - Dormant Accounts (Prescribed Notice) Regulations, 2001

The Minister for Social, Community and Family Affairs, in exercise of the powers conferred on him by section 4 (1) (a) of the Dormant Accounts Act, 2001 (No. 32 of 2001), hereby makes the following Regulations:

Citation.

1. These Regulations may be cited as the Dormant Accounts (Prescribed Notice) Regulations, 2001.

Commencement.

2. These Regulations come into operation on the 1st day of January 2002.

Notice to be published

3. The notice referred to in section 11 (2) of the Dormant Accounts Act, 2001 (No. 32 of 2001), shall be in the form for the time being approved by the Minister.

EXPLANATORY NOTE

The Dormant Accounts Act, 2001 (No. 32 of 2001) deals with dormant accounts in credit institutions.

Section 11 of the Dormant Accounts Act, 2001 obliges credit institutions to arrange for publication of a notice in two or more national daily newspapers and in the Iris Oifigiúil advising the general public about dormant accounts. These Regulations provide that the notice shall be in the form approved by the Minister.

The first notice shall be published on 30 April 2002. In each subsequent year, the notice shall be published on the first week-day in October in that year.
