S.I. No. 255/2001 - The Health Insurance Act, 1994 (Section 17) Levy Regulations, 2001


I, Micheál Martin T.D., Minister for Health and Children, in exercise of the powers conferred on me by section 3 and section 17 of the Health Insurance Act, 1994 , as adapted by the Health (Alteration of Name of Department and Title of Minister) Order, 1997 ( S.I. No. 308 of 1997 ), hereby make the following Regulations:

1.    These Regulations may be cited as The Health Insurance Act, 1994 (Section 17) Levy Regulations, 2001.

2.    In these Regulations-

“levy” means the amount payable by a registered undertaking under section 17 of the Act of 1994;

“assessable amount” has the meaning assigned to it by section 17 of the Act of 1994;

“registered”, in relation to an undertaking, has the meaning assigned to it by the Act of 1994;

“undertaking” has the meaning assigned to it by the Act of 1994;

and any cognate words shall be construed accordingly.

3.    The percentage of the assessable amount hereby prescribed for the purpose of the levy is 0.14%.
