S.I. No. 1/2001 - Local Government (Planning and Development) General Policy Directive (Shopping), 1998 (Revocation Order), 2001.


The Minister for the Environment and Local Government, in exercise of the powers conferred on him by section 28 of the Planning and Development Act, 2000 (No. 30 of 2000), hereby orders as follows:-

1.     This Order may be cited as the Local Government (Planning and Development) General Policy Directive (Shopping), 1998 (Revocation Order), 2001.

2.     This Order shall come into operation immediately.

3.     The Local Government (Planning and Development) General Policy Directive (Shopping), 1998 ( S.I. No. 193 of 1998 ) is hereby revoked.

4.     In the case of any application to a planning authority which is received by the planning authority before the date of coming into force of this Order, or any appeal to An Board Pleanála against a decision on such an application, the provisions of the Local Government (Planning and Development) General Policy Directive (Shopping), 1998 will continue to apply notwithstanding the revocation of the Directive.

The effect of this Order is to revoke, with effect from 2 January 2001, the Local Government (Planning and Development) General Policy Directive (Shopping), 1998 ( S.I. No. 193 of 1998 ). However, the Local Government (Planning and Development General Policy Directive (Shopping), 1998 ( S.I. No. 193 of 1998 ) will continue to apply to any planning application which is before a planning authority before the date of coming into force of this Order and to any appeal against a decision on such an application.
