S.I. No. 441/2000 - Building Regulations (Amendment) (No. 3) Regulations, 2000.


The Minister for the Environment and Local Government, in exercise of the powers conferred on him by Sections 3 and 18 of the Building Control Act, 1990 (No. 3 of 1990), hereby makes the following Regulations—

1. These Regulations may be cited as the Building Regulations (Amendment) (No. 3) Regulations, 2000.

2. These Regulations shall come into operation on the 1st day of January 2001.

3. The Building Regulations, 1997 ( S.I. No. 497 of 1997 ) are hereby amended by the substitution of the following for Class 9, Column 1, Article 8 of the Third Schedule (Exempted Buildings):

“A building constructed for and used by the Electricity Supply Board as a generating, transmission or distribution station, or constructed for and used by a transmission system operator within the meaning of Council Directive 96/92/EC of the European Parliament and of the Council of 19th December 19961 concerning common rules for the internal market in electricity, as a transmission station, or constructed by the holder of an authorisation under section 16 of the Electricity Regulation Act, 1999 , and used by the holder of a licence under section 14(1)(a) of the Electricity Regulation Act, 1999 as a generating station”.

These regulations amend the Building Regulations, 1997, so as to extend the Class 9 building exemption from the Electricity Supply Board to other licensed Electricity Supply Utilities. The Regulations will come into operation on the 1st January 2001.
