S.I. No. 22/2000 - The Blood Transfusion Service Board (Establishment) Order, 1965 (Amendment) Order, 2000


The Minister for Health and Children in exercise of the powers conferred on him by section 3 of the Health (Corporate Bodies) Act, 1961 (No. 27 of 1961) (as adapted by the Health (Alteration of Name of Department and Title of Minister) Order, 1997 ( S.I. No. 308 of 1997 )), hereby orders as follows:

1.       The Order may be cited as the Blood Transfusion Service Board (Establishment) Order, 1965 (Amendment) Order, 2000.

2.       Article 2 of the Blood Transfusion Service Board (Establishment) Order, 1965 ( S.I. No. 78 of 1965 ) is hereby amended by the insertion of the following sub-article:

“(2) As and from the 7th day of April, 2000 -

(a)       the body established by this Order shall be known as Seirbhis Fuilaistriuchain na hEireann or, in the English language, as the Irish Blood Transfusion Service,

(b)       any reference to An Bord Seirbhise Fuilaistriuchain shall be construed as a reference to Seirbhis Fuilaistriuchain na hEireann, and

(c)       any reference to the Blood Transfusion Service Board shall be construed as a reference to the Irish Blood Transfusion Service.”

3.       Article 4 of the Blood Transfusion Service Board (Establishment) Order, 1965 is hereby amended by the insertion of the following sub-article

(k)      to organise and administer a service for obtaining and assessing reports of unexpected or undesirable effects of transfusion of blood or blood components made available by the Board, including the furnishing to the Irish Medicines Board of reports of any unexpected or undesirable effects of any transfusion of such blood or blood components.”
