S.I. No. 433/1999 - Courts (Supplemental Provisions) Act, 1961. (Increase of Judicial Remuneration) Order, 1999


The Government, in exercise of the powers conferred on them by section 46 (9) (inserted by section 1 (b) of the Courts (Supplemental Provisions) (Amendment) (No.2) Act, 1968 (No. 21 of 1968), as amended by sections 8 and 9 of the Oireachtas (Allowances to Members) and Ministerial, Parliamentary and Judicial Offices (Amendment) Act, 1983 (No. 32 of 1983)) of the Courts (Supplemental Provisions) Act, 1961 (No. 39 of 1961), hereby order as follows:

1. (1) This Order may be cited as the Courts (Supplemental Provisions) Act, 1961 (Increase of Judicial Remuneration) Order, 1999.

(2) This Order shall be deemed to have come into operation on 1st July 1999.

2. The sums payable by way of remuneration to the several judges of the Supreme Court, the High Court, the Circuit Court and the District Court shall be the following—

(a) to the Chief Justice — the sum of £113,429 a year,

(b) to the President of the High Court — the sum of £102,140 a year,

(c) to each ordinary judge of the Supreme Court — the sum of £98,305 a year,

(d) to each ordinary judge of the High Court — the sum of £90,524 a year,

(e) to the President of the Circuit Court — the sum of £90,524 a year,

(f) to each ordinary judge of the Circuit Court — the sum of £71,237 a year,

(g) to the President of the District Court — the sum of £71,237 a year,

(h) to each other judge of the District Court — the sum of £59,181 a year.
