S.I. No. 387/1999 - Circuit Court (Alteration of Circuits) Order, 1999


THE Government, in exercise of the powers conferred on them by Section 3 (1) of the Courts Act, 1964 (No. 11 of 1964), and after consultation by the Government, acting through the Minister for Justice, Equality and Law Reform, with the President of the Circuit Court and the judges of the Circuit Court permanently assigned to the Midland Circuit and the Northern Circuit, hereby order as follows:

1. This Order may be cited as the Circuit Court (Alteration of Circuits) Order, 1999.

2. This Order shall come into operation on the 10th day of December, 1999.

3. The county of Sligo shall be removed from the Midland Circuit and shall be added to the Northern Circuit.

4. Business transacted in the Circuit Court which was initiated before the commencement of this Order and was not completed before such commencement shall be continued and completed as if this Order had been in operation when such business was initiated.

EXPLANATORY NOTE.

This Order provides for the removal of the county of Sligo from the Midland Circuit and its addition to the Northern Circuit of the Circuit Court in order to facilitate the transfer of the sittings of Sligo Circuit Court to Carrick-on-Shannon pending the completion of certain building works to the Courthouse in Sligo.
