S.I. No. 225/1999 - Betting Act (Revenue Forms) Regulations, 1999.


I, CHARLIE McCREEVY, Minister for Finance, in exercise of the powers conferred on me by section 35 (2) of the Betting Act, 1931 (No. 27 of 1931), hereby make the following regulations:

1. (1) These Regulations may be cited as the Betting Act (Revenue Forms) Regulations, 1999.

(2) The Betting Act (Revenue Forms) Regulations, 1931 to 1988, and these Regulations may be cited together as the Betting Act (Revenue Forms) Regulations, 1931 to 1999.

2. The Betting Act (Revenue Forms) Regulations, 1931 ( S.R. & O., No. 80 of 1931 ), are hereby amended by the substitution for form 6 (inserted by the Betting Act (Revenue Forms) Regulations, 1988 ( S.I. No. 300 of 1988 )) contained in the Schedule thereto of the form set out in the Schedule to these Regulations.

“Form 6.

Betting Act, 1931.

Certificate of registration (or renewal of registration) of Bookmaking Offices.

This is to certify that the Revenue Commissioners have entered the following particulars in the register of bookmaking offices:

Date from which the registration (or renewal of registration) takes effect ............................................................ ............................................................ ...................................................

Unless and until removed from the register under or by virtue of the Betting Act, 1931 , or the Finance Act, 1984 , any premises registered in the register of bookmaking offices shall continue to be so registered until midnight on the 30th day of November next after the registration thereof and shall then (unless the registration has been renewed under the Betting Act, 1931 ) be removed from the said register.

Registered premises shall not be opened or kept open for the transaction of business at any time on any Christmas Day, Good Friday or Easter Sunday and in the case of any other day—

(a)  from the 1st day of September in any year to the 31st day of March in the following year, at any time before the hour of seven o'clock in the morning and after the hour of half past six o'clock in the evening of such other day, and

(b)  from the 1st day of April in any year to the 31st day of August in that year, at any time before the hour of seven o'clock in the morning and after the hour of ten o'clock in the evening of such other day.

EXPLANATORY NOTE.

(This note is not part of the Instrument and does not purport to be a legal interpretation.)

These Regulations amend the Betting Act (Revenue Forms) Regulations, 1931 ( S.R. & O., No. 80 of 1931 ) to change the Certificate of Registration issued by the Revenue Commissioners so as to take into account the extended opening hours of betting shops which came into effect on the 1st day of April, 1999.
