S.I. No. 264 of 1998.

INDUSTRIAL RELATIONS ACT, 1990 (DEFINITION OF "WORKER") ORDER, 1998

The Government in exercise of the powers conferred on them by section 23 (5) of the Industrial Relations Act, 1990 (No. 19 of 1990), hereby order as follows:

1. (1) This Order may be cited as the Industrial Relations Act, 1990 (Definition of "Worker") Order, 1998.

(2) This Order shall come into operation on the 1st day of August, 1998.

2. Section 23 of the Industrial Relations Act, 1990 (No. 19 of 1990), is hereby amended by the deletion in subsection (1) of paragraph (d).

EXPLANATORY NOTE

The effect of this Order is to amend the definition of "worker" in Section 23 (1) of the Industrial Relations Act, 1990 (No. 19 of 1990) in order to give officers of local authorities (including health boards) access to the Labour Relations Commission, Labour Court and Rights Commissioners.
