STATISTICS (CENSUS OF INDUSTRIAL PRODUCTION) ORDER, 1998.

I, SÉAMUS BRENNAN, Minister of State at the Department of the Taoiseach, in exercise of the powers conferred on me by section 25 (1) of the Statistics Act, 1993 (No. 21 of 1993), and the Statistics (Delegation of Ministerial Functions) Order, 1997 ( S.I. No. 327 of 1997 ), hereby order as follows:

1. This order may be cited as the Statistics (Census of Industrial Production) Order, 1998.

2. This Order applies to all undertakings engaged in activities described in the First Schedule to this order.

3. The Central Statistics Office shall be provided with the information specified in Article 4 of this Order in statistical form pursuant to surveys (the first of which shall be in the year 1998 and the last of which shall be in the year 2002) undertaken by the Central Statistics Office at intervals of not more than 12 months and shall be so provided in accordance with directions under section 26 of the Statistics Act, 1993 (No. 21 of 1993).

4. An undertaking to which this Order applies is hereby required to provide the Central Statistics Office with information in relation to its activities and, in particular, shall so provide the information specified in the Second Schedule to this Order.

FIRST SCHEDULE

1. Energy and water.

Prospecting or exploration (including the preparation of sites) for and extraction of coal, turf, oil and natural gas (including the preparation of sites), mineral oil refining and the generation, transmission, and distribution of electric energy, manufacture of gas in gas works, water supply and distribution.

2. Non-energy producing minerals.

Prospecting or exploration (including the preparation of sites) for and extraction and processing of non-energy producing minerals and derived products.

3. Manufacturing industries.

The mechanical or chemical transformation of inorganic or organic substances into new products, together with associated repair work and the assembly of component parts of manufactured products.

SECOND SCHEDULE

1. Particulars of the undertaking covered in the return.

2. Particulars of the value of fixed capital assets acquired and disposed of by the undertaking during the year.

3. Particulars of the value of stocks and work in progress of the undertaking at the beginning and end of the period concerned.

4. Particulars of the value of turnover invoiced during the year by the undertaking.

5. Particulars of the value of purchases during the year by the undertaking.

6. Particulars of the value of value-added tax (VAT) which fall due for payment during the year by the undertaking.

7. Particulars of the value of any other indirect taxes which fall due for payment during the year by the undertaking.

8. Particulars of the value of operating subsidies received during the year by the undertaking.

9. Particulars of the number of persons engaged in the undertaking on a specified reference week during the year.

10. Particulars of the value of gross earnings paid to employees during the year by the undertaking.

11. Particulars of the value of gross earnings paid to employees during the year by the undertaking.
