REGISTRATION OF ELECTORS REGULATIONS, 1997.

The Minister for the Environment in exercise of the powers conferred on him by section 6 of the Electoral (Amendment) Act, 1996 (No. 43 of 1996) hereby makes the following regulations:

1. These Regulations may be cited as the Registration of Electors Regulations, 1997.

2. In these Regulations "the Act of 1992" means the Electoral Act, 1992 (No. 23 of 1992).

3. The prescribed period for the purpose of paragraph 2 of the Table to paragraph (4) of Rule 1 of the Second Schedule to the Act of 1992 in respect of applications for entry in the postal voters list under section 14 (d) of that Act for the register of electors to be published in the year 1997 shall be the period of 14 days ending on the 17th day of January, 1997.

4. The prescribed date for the purpose of paragraph 4 of the Table to paragraph (4) of Rule 1 of the Second Schedule to the Act of 1992 in respect of applications for entry in the postal voters list under section 14 (d) of that Act for the register of electors to be published in the year 1997 shall be the 7th day of February, 1997.

EXPLANATORY NOTE.

These Regulations prescribe dates in relation to the preparation of the postal voters list for electors with a physical illness or disability for the 1997/98 register of electors.
