REGISTRATION OF BIRTHS AND DEATHS (IRELAND) ACT, 1863 (SECTION 17 AND SECTION 18) (NORTH EASTERN) ORDER, 1997

An tArd-Chláraitheoir, in exercise of the powers conferred on him by Section 17 and Section 18 of the Registration of Births and Deaths (Ireland) Act, 1863, hereby orders as follows:

1. This Order may be cited as the Registration of Births and Deaths (Ireland) Act, 1863 (Section 17 and Section 18) (North Eastern) Order, 1997

2. The existing Registrars' Districts of Drogheda No. 1, Drogheda No. 2, Termonfeckin (in the County of Louth), Saint Mary's and Duleek (in the County of Meath) shall be amalgamated and shall together form one Registrar's District to be known as the Registrar's District of Drogheda.

3. The existing Registrars' Districts of Dundalk No. I and Dundalk No. 2, shall be amalgamated and shall together form one Registrar's District to be known as the Registrar's District of Dundalk.

4. The existing Registrars' Districts of Kells and Navan shall be amalgamated and shall together form one Registrar's District to be known as the Registrar's District of Navan.

5. The existing Superintendent Registrars' Districts of Cavan and Bawnboy shall be amalgamated and shall together form one Superintendent Registrar's District to be known as the Superintendent Registrar's District of Cavan.

6. The existing Superintendent Registrars' Districts of Dunshaughlin Kells, Navan and Trim shall be amalgamated and shall together form one Superintendent Registrar's District to be known as the Superintendent Registrar's District of Trim.

7. The Superintendent Registrar's District of Dundalk shall be altered so as to include the whole of the County of Louth and that portion of County Meath which is within the Registrar's District of Drogheda (as set out in Paragraph 2 above). The Superintendent Registrar's District of Navan shall include the County of Meath with the exception of that part of the County which falls into the Registrar's District of Drogheda.

EXPLANATORY NOTE

The effect of this Order is to amalgamate certain Superintendent Registrars' Districts and Registrars' Districts in the functional area of the North Eastern Health Board so as to reduce the number of such districts in that area.
