S.I. No. 416/1997 - Registration of Births and Deaths (Ireland) Act, 1863 (Section 17) (Western) Order, 1997


An tArd-Chláraitheoir, in exercise of the powers conferred on him by Section 17 of the Registration of Births and Deaths (Ireland) Act, 1863, hereby orders as follows:

1. This Order may be cited as the Registration of Births and Deaths (Ireland) Act, 1863 (Section 17) (Western) Order, 1997

2. The existing Superintendent Registrars' Districts of Ballinasloe, Clifden, Galway, Glenamaddy, Gort, Loughrea, Mountbellew, Oughterard, Portumna and Tuam shall be amalgamated and shall together form one Superintendent Registrar's District to be known as the Superintendent Registrar's District of Galway.

3. The existing Superintendent Registrars' Districts of Ballina, Ballinrobe, Belmullet, Castlebar, Claremorris, Swinford and Westport shall be amalgamated and shall together form one Superintendent Registrar's District to be known as the Superintendent Registrar's District of Mayo.

4. The existing Superintendent Registrars' Districts of Boyle, Castlerea and Roscommon shall be amalgamated and shall together form one Superintendent Registrar's District to be known as the Superintendent Registrar's District of Roscommon.

5. This Order shall come into operation on the 9th day of October, 1997.

EXPLANATORY NOTE

The effect of this Order is to amalgamate certain Superintendent Registrars' Districts and Registrars' Districts in the functional area of the Western Health Board so as to reduce the number of such districts in that area.
