FOREIGN PARCEL POST AMENDMENT (NO. 32) SCHEME, 1997

AN POST, in exercise of the powers conferred on it by Section 70 of the Postal and Telecommunications Services Act, 1983 (No. 24 of 1983), and with the consent of the Minister for Transport, Energy and Communications, hereby makes the following Scheme:

1. (1) This Scheme may be cited as the Foreign Parcel Post Amendment (No. 32) Scheme, 1997.

(2) This Scheme shall be operative from the 7th day of April, 1997.

2. In this Scheme—

"The Principal Warrant" means the Foreign Parcel Post Warrant, 1953 ( S.I. No. 418 of 1953 ).

"Scheme No. 31" means the Foreign Parcel Post Amendment (No. 31) Scheme, 1996 ( S.I. No. 299 of 1996 ).

3. The Second Schedule to the Principal Warrant is hereby amended by the substitution for the entries therein (inserted by Regulation 3 of Scheme No. 31) of the entries in the First Schedule to this Scheme.

4. The First Schedule to the Foreign Parcel Post Amendment (No. 20) Scheme, 1985 ( S.I. No. 96 of 1985 ), as inserted by Regulation 6 of the Foreign Parcel Post Amendment (No. 30) Scheme, 1995 ( S.I. No. 101 of 1995 ), is hereby amended by the substitution for the entries therein of the entries in the Second Schedule to this Scheme.

5. Part II of the Fourth Schedule to the Principal Warrant, is hereby amended by the substitution for the entries therein (inserted by Regulation 5 of Scheme No. 31) of the entries in the Third Schedule to this Scheme.

*The fees payable for Insurance Service are additional to normal Air or Surface parcel postage.

†The £3.50 compensation fee is payable only on parcels being sent to certain European Countries where in addition to the provision of compensation in the event of loss or damage, a track and trace facility is also provided. For details please consult relevant promotional brochures.

EXPLANATORY NOTE.

The Scheme applies to the Foreign Parcel Post Service and shall be operative from the 7th day of April, 1997. It authorises increases in the fees which may be charged for courier items and parcels being sent to destinations outside Ireland.
