FOREIGN PARCEL POST AMENDMENT (NO. 31 ) SCHEME, 1996

AN POST, in exercise of the powers conferred on it by Section 70 of the Postal and Telecommunications Services Act, 1983 (No. 24 of 1983), and with the consent of the Minister for Transport, Energy and Communications, hereby makes the following Scheme:

1. (1) This Scheme may be cited as the Foreign Parcel Post Amendment (No. 31) Scheme, 1996.

(2) This Scheme shall be operative from the 1st day of April, 1996.

2. In this Scheme–

"The Principal Warrant" means the Foreign Parcel Post Warrant, 1953 ( S.I. No. 418 of 1953 ).

"Scheme No. 30" means the Foreign Parcel Post Amendment (No. 30) Scheme, 1995 ( S.I. No. 101 of 1995 ).

3. The Second Schedule to the Principal Warrant is hereby amended by the substitution for the entries therein (inserted by Regulation 3 of Scheme No. 30) of the entries in the First Schedule to this Scheme.

4. The Third Schedule to the Principal Warrant is hereby amended by the substitution for the entries therein (inserted by Regulation 4 of Scheme No. 30) of the entries in the Second Schedule to this Scheme.

5. Part II of the Fourth Schedule to the Principal Warrant, is hereby amended by the substitution for the entries therein (inserted by Regulation 5 of Scheme No. 30) of the entries in the Third Schedule to this Scheme.

FIRST SCHEDULE

Maximum Postage:

Parcel (except an Air Mail Parcel):

£130 for a parcel not exceeding 30Kg.

Air Mail Parcel:

£ 10 per 250g.

SECOND SCHEDULE

Customs Clearance Fee

On each parcel from outside the European Union where duty is payable:

A fee of 1% of the actual value of the parcel's contents subject to a minimum fee of £2. Actual value of contents to be assessed during Customs examination.

* The fees payable for Insurance Service are additional to normal Air or Surface parcel postage.

EXPLANATORY NOTE

This Scheme applies to the Foreign Parcel Post Service and shall be operative from the 1st day of April, 1996. It authorises increases in the fees which may be charged for parcels being sent to destinations outside Ireland. It also authorises increases in the fees which may be charged for the Insurance Service.
