MONEY ORDER AMENDMENT (NO. 33) SCHEME, 1994.

AN POST, in exercise of the powers conferred on it by Section 70 of the Postal and Telecommunications Service Act, 1983 (No. 24 of 1983), and with the concurrence of the Minister for Transport, Energy and Communications, hereby makes the following Scheme:

1. This Scheme may be cited as the Money Order Amendment (No. 33) Scheme, 1994.

2. This Scheme shall come into operation on the 1st day of February, 1994.

3. The Interpretation Act, 1937 (No. 38 of 1937), applies to this Scheme.

4. In this Scheme:—

"the Principal Regulations" means the Post Office (Money Order) Regulations, 1903;

"The Scheme of 1991" means the Money Order Amendment (No. 32) Scheme, 1991 ( S.I. No. 98 of 1991 ).

5. Regulation 18 (1) of the Principal Regulations for tables is hereby amended by the substitution of the following tables A, B and C (inserted by Regulation 5 of the Scheme of 1991) which set out the poundage payable in respect of Money Orders:

In respect of Foreign Money Orders:

For an amount not exceeding £250.

In respect of supplementary services:

For correcting or altering the name of the remitter or payee.

For stopping payment.

For the issue of a duplicate Money Order (including stopping payment of the original order).

For the renewal/repayment of a lost/void Money Order (including stopping payment of the original order).

For the confirmation of payment of an Inland and/or Foreign Money Order.

EXPLANATORY NOTE.

This Scheme, which operates with effect from 1st February, 1994, provides for an increase in the poundage levied on Money Orders.
