POSTAL ORDER (INLAND) AMENDMENT (NO. 25) SCHEME, 1994.

An Post, in exercise of the powers conferred on it by section 70 of the Postal and Telecommunications Service Act, 1983 (No. 24 of 1983), and with the concurrence of the Minister for Transport, Energy and Communications, hereby makes the following Scheme:

1. This Scheme may be cited as the Postal Order (Inland) Amendment (No. 25) Scheme, 1994.

2. This Scheme shall come into operation on the 1st day of February, 1994.

3. The Interpretation Act, 1937 (No. 38 of 1937), applies to this Scheme.

4. The Postal Order (Inland) Regulations, 1905, are hereby amended by the substitution of the following for Regulation 4 (inserted by Regulation 4 of the Postal Order (Inland) Amendment (No. 10) Regulations, 1971):

"Postal orders shall be issued for the following sums, namely, 50p, £1, multiples of one pound between £2 and £10 both inclusive, £20, £30, £40, £50, £70 and £100 denominations. Not more than three postage stamps to a maximum value of ninety nine pence (99p) may be affixed to postal orders".

5. The Postal Order (Inland) Regulations, 1905, are hereby amended by the substitution of the following for Regulation 5 (inserted by Regulation 5 of the Postal Order (Inland) Amendment (No. 24) Scheme, 1991):

"The poundage payable on postal orders shall be as follows:

For an order with a value of £0.50

£0.30

For an order with a value of £1.00

£0.50

For an order with a value of £2.00 but not exceeding £3.00

£0.55

For an order with a value of £4.00 but not exceeding £5.00

£0.65

For an order with a value of £6.00 but not exceeding £10

£0.85

For an order with a value of £20 but not exceeding £50

£1.75

For an order with a value of £70 and £100 only

£2.25"

6. The provisions of the Postal Order (Inland) Regulations, 1905, relating to the charge for supplementary service, as inserted by Regulation 6 of the Postal Order (Inland) Amendment (No. 24) Scheme, 1991, shall be construed so as to refer to the poundage rates set out in Regulation 5 of this Scheme.

EXPLANATORY NOTE.

This Scheme, which operates with effect from 1st February, 1994, provides for a restructuring of poundage and supplementary service charges on Postal Orders.
