MAINTENANCE ALLOWANCES (INCREASED PAYMENT) REGULATIONS, 1993.

The Minister for Health in exercise of the powers conferred on him by section 5 and subsection (5) of section 44 of the Health Act, 1947 , (No. 28 of 1947), and by sections 69 and 72 of the Health Act, 1970 (No. 1 of 1970), hereby makes the following Regulations:

1. These Regulations may be cited as the Maintenance Allowances (Increased Payment) Regulations, 1993.

2. Where a person is or becomes entitled to—

( a ) payment under subsection (3) of section 44 of the Health Act, 1947 in accordance with the Infectious Diseases (Maintenance) Regulations, 1993 ( S.I. No. 212 of 1993 ); or

( b ) payment of a maintenance allowance under section 69 of the Health Act, 1970 in accordance with the Disabled Persons (Maintenance Allowances) Regulations, 1993 ( S.I. No. 211 of 1993 ), as amended,

any amount so payable in respect of the week ending on the 3rd day of December, 1993 to or in respect of himself or his dependants shall be increased by a sum equal to seventy per cent of that amount or £20 whichever is the greater.

EXPLANATORY NOTE.

The effect of these Regulations is to increase, in respect of the week ending 3rd December, 1993, the maximum weekly rate of maintenance allowances payable under section 44 of the Health Act, 1947 and section 69 of the Health Act, 1970 , by a sum equal to seventy per cent of that amount or £20 whichever is the greater.
