ROAD TRAFFIC (SPEED LIMITS) (COUNTY OF KILDARE) REGULATIONS, 1992.

The Minister for the Environment in exercise of the powers conferred on him by Sections 5 , 45 and 46 of the Road Traffic Act, 1961 (No. 24 of 1961) amended as regards the said Section 46 by Section 25 of the Road Traffic Act, 1968 (No. 25 of 1968) hereby makes the following

Regulations:—

1 Citation.

1. These Regulations may be cited as the Road Traffic (Speed Limits) (County of Kildare) Regulations, 1992.

2 Commencement.

2. These Regulations shall come into operation on the 16th day of March, 1992.

3 Interpretation.

3. In these Regulations save where the context otherwise requires.

"the Act" means the Road Traffic Act, 1961 ;

"distance" means distance as measured along the centre line of a road;

"National road" means a road declared to be a National road in the Local Government (Roads and Motorways) Act, 1974 (Declaration of National Roads) Order, 1977 ( S.I. No. 164 of 1977 ) and any reference to the number of such road shall be a reference to the number of such road as shown in column 1 of the First and Second Schedules to the aforementioned Order;

"road" means a public road;

"perimeter road" means a road on and along the roadway of which there runs the boundary of an urban district or a town and shall be considered as being within such boundary for the purposes of these Regulations.

"special speed limit" and "built-up area speed limit" have the meanings respectively assigned to them in Part IV of the Act.

4 Built-up area speed limit.

4. (1) Each of the roads described in the First Schedule to these Regulations is hereby declared not to be a public road in a built-up area for the purposes of Section 45 of the Act.

(2) Each of the roads described in the Second Schedule to these Regulations is hereby declared to be a public road in a built-up area for the purposes of Section 45 of the Act.

5 Special speed limit.

5. Forty miles per hour shall be the speed limit for mechanically propelled vehicles on the roads specified in the Third Schedule to these Regulations.

6 Exceptions.

6. There shall be excepted from the special speed limit prescribed in article 5 of these Regulations and from the built-up area speed limit the following:—

( a ) Ambulances;

( b ) Fire Brigade vehicles and

( c ) vehicles used by members of the Garda Siochana in the performance of their duties as such members.

7 Revocation.

7. The Road Traffic (Speed Limits) (County of Kildare) Regulations, 1989 ( S.I. No. 230 of 1989 ) are hereby revoked.

FIRST SCHEDULE.

Roads declared not to be public roads in a built-up area for the purposes of Section 45 of the Road Traffic Act, 1961 .

1. The following roads in the Urban District of Athy:

( a ) The Ballintubbert Road between the point where the urban district boundary intersects the southern side of the road and its junction with the Stradbally Road.

( b ) The Stradbally Road between the point where the urban district boundary intersects the northern side of the road and a point 196 metres from its junction with the Ballintubbert Road.

( c ) The Churchtown Road between the urban district boundary and its junction with the Stradbally Road.

( d ) The Ballylinan Road (National Road N78) for a distance of 367 metres in a north easterly direction from the urban district boundary.

( e ) The Fortbarrington Road between the urban district boundary and a point 420 metres south-east of its junction with the Ballylinan Road (National Road N78).

( f ) The Ballybought Lane between its junction with the Fortbarrington Road and the urban district boundary.

( g ) The Carlow Road between the point where the urban district boundary intersects the eastern side of the road and a point 68 metres south of its junction with the Aughaboura Road.

( h ) The Ardreigh Road between the point where the urban district boundary intersects the easternmost side of the road and its junction with the Carlow Road.

( i ) The Ardreigh Lane.

( j ) The Naas Road (National Road N78) between the urban district boundary and a point 150 metres east of its junction with the Kildare Road.

( k ) The Kildare Road and its extension, the Geraldine Road, between the point where the urban district boundary intersects the eastern side of the road and a point 259 metres south of Boheranouca Cross Roads.

( l ) The Boheranouca Road.

( m ) Prussellstown Lane between the urban district boundary and its junction with the Geraldine Road.

( n ) The Castledermot Road between the point where the urban district boundary intersects the eastern side of the road and its junction with the Naas Road (National Road N78).

( o ) The Monasterevin Road for a distance of 1,120 metres from the urban district boundary.

( p ) The Cardington Road between the point where the urban district boundary intersects the Northeastern side of the road and its junction with the Stradbally Road.

2. The following road in the town of Droichead Nua:

( a ) The Morristownbiller Road for a distance of 32 metres south-east of the Railway Bridge.

3. The following roads in the town of Leixlip:

( a ) The Confey Road between its junction with the Allenswood Road and a point 73 metres north of the centre line of Cope Bridge.

( b ) The Celbridge Road for a distance of 10 metres north-east of the town boundary.

( c ) The Kilmacredock Road between the town boundary to a point 150 metres south of its junction with New Green Lane.

( d ) The Mullingar Road (National Road N4) between a point where the town boundary intersects the southern side of the road and a point 65 metres north-west of its junction with Old Green Lane.

( e ) New Green Lane for a distance of 25 metres from its junction with the Mullingar Road (National Road N4) at Louisa Bridge.

4. The following roads in the Urban District of Naas:

( a ) The Monread Road, Fishery Lane, Tipper Road North, Tipper Road South.

( b ) The Sallins Road for a distance of 700 metres from the urban district boundary.

( c ) Mill Lane between the urban district boundary and a point 65 metres west of its junction with the Sallins Road.

( d ) Canal Bank between the urban district boundary and a point 100 metres north of its junction with the Abbey Bridge Road.

( e ) The Caragh Road between the urban district boundary and a point 430 metres west of the centre line of Ploopluck Bridge.

( f ) The Droichead Nua Road (National Road N7) between the urban district boundary and a point 90 metres south-west of its junction with St. David's Terrace.

( g ) The Rathasker Road for a distance of 1,120 metres from the urban district boundary.

( h ) The Kilcullen Road (National Road N9) for a distance of 880 metres from the urban district boundary.

( i ) The Ballymore Eustace Road for a distance of 1216 metres from the urban district boundary.

( j ) The Craddockstown Road between the urban district boundary and a point 50 metres south-east of its junction with the Hazelmere Road.

( k ) The Blessington Road between the urban district boundary and a point 35 metres south-east of its junction with the Hazelmere Road.

( l ) The road leading from the Rathasker Road to the Kilcullen Road between the townlands of Bluebell and Rathasker.

( m ) The Tipper Road for a distance of 100 metres from its junction with the Tipper Road North and the Tipper Road South.

( n ) The Naas By-Pass.

SECOND SCHEDULE.

( b ) Abbeys Row between its junction with Market Square and a point 50 metres south-east of its junction with the Athy Road.

( c ) The Barracks Road between its junction with Market Square and a point 320 metres north-west of its junction with the Naas-Carlow road (National Road N9).

( d ) The Fullers Court Road between its junction with Market Square and a point 490 metres south-east of the said Square.

2. The following roads at Ballymore Eustace:

( a ) Oliver Plunkett Road, Market Square, Chapel Street, St. Brigid's Terrace, Assumpta Terrace.

( b ) The Naas Road between its junction with Market Square and a point 120 metres north of its junction with the Stonebrook Road.

( c ) The Stonebrook Road for a distance of 55 metres from its junction with the Naas Road.

( d ) The Ardinode Road for a distance of 90 metres from its junction with the Hollywood Road.

( e ) Main Street and its continuation was the Hollywood Road for a distance of 370 metres south of its junction with the Ardinode Road.

( f ) The Tipperkevin Road for a distance of 275 metres from its junction with Market Square.

( g ) The Bishopshill Road for a distance of 245 metres from its junction with the Poulaphouca Road.

( a ) The Kildare Road for a distance 640 metres from its junction with the Suncroft Road.

( a ) Carlow Gate, School Lane, The Square, William Pearse Terrace, The Abbeylands Housing Estate roads, The Deals, Ivers Lane.

( b ) The Dublin-Carlow road (National Road N9) between a point 130 metres north of the Pike Cross and a point 90 metres south-west of its junction with the Tullow Road.

( c ) Church Lane between its junction with the Dublin-Carlow road (National Road N9) and a point 80 metres south of its junction with Ivers Lane.

( d ) The Tullow Road for a distance of 23 metres from its junction with the Dublin-Carlow road (National Road N9).

( e ) The Newtownallen Road between the Square and a point 40 metres west of its junction with the Maganey Road.

( a ) a point on the Hazelhatch Road 750 metres from its junction with the Lucan Road.

( b ) a point on the Templemill Road 1752 metres south of its junction with the Hazelhatch Road.

( c ) a point on the Clane Road 548 metres north of its junction with Killeenlea Road.

( d ) a point on Lea Lane 500 metres north-west of the westernmost entrance to St. Patrick's Park.

( e ) a point on the Maynooth Road 40 metres north of the northernmost entrance to Crodaun Estate, and thence initially in an easterly direction of 925 metres and thence in a southerly direction to the starting point on the Lucan Road.

( b ) The Blackwood-Timahoe road between a point 410 metres north-west of its junction with the Brockagh Road and a point 45 metres east of the said junction.

( c ) The Brockagh Road for a distance of 410 metres from its junction with the Blackwood-Timahoe road.

8. The following road at Curragh Camp:

The Ballymany Cross-Brownstown road between a point 70 metres north-west of its junction with Collins Road West and a point 485 metres south-west of its junction with O'Higgins Road West.

9. The following roads adjacent to the town of Droichead Nua:

( a ) Moore Park, Moorefield Crescent, The Ballymany Park Roads, Roseberry Commons, Industrial Estate Road, The Common Road.

( b ) The Barrettstown Road between the boundary of the town of Droichead Nua and a point 550 metres north-east of its junction with Mooney's Road.

( c ) Mooney's Road for a distance of 150 metres from its junction with the Barrettstown Road.

( d ) Sex Road between its junction with the Barrettstown Road and a point 150 metres east of the centre line of Sex Bridge.

( e ) The Standhouse Road between the point where the boundary of the town of Droichead Nua intersects the southern side of the road and a point 130 metres west of its junction with Blackberry Lane.

( k ) The Milltown Road between the boundary of the town of Droichead Nua and a point 510 metres north-west of the said boundary.

10. The following roads at Johnstown:

( a ) Johnstown Gardens housing estate road.

( b ) Main Road between its northern most junction with the Dublin-Naas road (National Road N7) and a point 40 metres south-east of its southern most junction with the said road.

( c ) The Westown Road for a distance of 275 metres from its junction with Main Road through Johnstown.

11. The following roads at Kilcock:

( a ) Canal Street, Cemetery Lane, Luby's Lane, Mill Lane, School Street, The Square, Fair Green, New Lane, New Road, The Crescent, Highfield Park.

( b ) The Dublin-Mullingar road (National Road N4) between a point 660 metres north-west of its junction with the Naas Road and a point 320 metres south-east of the said junction.

( c ) The Naas Road between its junction with the Dublin-Mullingar road (National Road N4) and a point 120 metres north-east of the centre line of Courttown Bridge.

( d ) The Branganstown (Rathcoffey) Road for a distance of 395 metres from its junction with the Naas Road.

( e ) The Dunshaughlin Road between its junction with the Square and the boundary between the counties of Meath and Kildare.

12. The following roads at Kilcullen:

( a ) The Square, St. Brigid's Park, Conroy Park, Nicholastown housing estate roads.

( b ) The Carlow Road (National Road N9) between a point 50 metres south of the southernmost entrance road to Nicholastown housing estate and a point 20 metres north of its junction with the Logstown Road.

( c ) The Dunlavin Road for a distance of 185 metres from its junction with the Carlow Road (National Road N9).

( d ) The Logstown Road for a distance of 200 metres from its junction with the Carlow Road (National Road N9).

( e ) The Droichead Nua Road for a distance of 570 metres from its junction with the Carlow Road (National Road N9).

All roads in the area enclosed by a line commencing at a point on the Milltown Road 366 metres north of its junction with the Melitta Road and drawn thence in straight lines successively to the following points:—

( a ) a point on the Rathangan (via Dunmurray) Road 20 metres north of its junction with the Fair Green Cottages Road,

( b ) a point on the Old Road 46 metres north of its junction with Bohereenagerr,

( c ) a point on the Redhills Road 65 metres north-west of its junction with Pigeon Lane,

17. The following roads at Monasterevin:

( a ) St. Evin's Park, Cowpasture Cottages Road, Drogheda Row, Drogheda Street, Market Square, New Cottages Road, St. Mary's Lane, Togher Road, Whelan's Row and Whelan's Street.

( b ) The Kildare-Portlaoise road (National Road N7) between a point 183 metres south-east of its junction with Drogheda Street and a point 160 metres south-west of the centre line of Towns Bridge.

( c ) The Portarlington Road and its continuation as West End, Moore Street, and Main Street between its junction with Market Square and a point 23 metres south of the centre line of the Railway Bridge.

( d ) The Canal Road or High Bridge Road between its junction with the Portarlington Road and a point 20 metres north-east of its junction with Drogheda Street.

( e ) The Rathangan Road for a distance of 990 metres from its junction with the Cowpasture Crossroads,

( f ) The Cowpasture Road for a distance of 412 metres from its junction with Drogheda Row.

18. The following roads adjacent to the Urban District of Naas:—

( a ) The Northbound On-Ramp linking the Naas By-Pass and the Dublin-Naas road (National Road N7) for a distance of 670 metres from the boundary of the urban district of Naas.

( b ) The Nothbound Off-Ramp linking the Dublin-Naas road (National Road N7) and the Naas By-Pass between a point 50 metres from its junction with the northbound carriageway of the Naas By-Pass and its junction with the Dublin-Naas road (National Road N7).

( c ) The Southbound On Ramp linking the Naas By-Pass and the Dublin-Naas road (National Road N7) for a distance of 270 metres from the boundary of the urban district of Naas.

( d ) The Dublin-Naas road (National Road N7) between the boundary of the urban district of Naas and a point 10 metres north of its junction with the Northbound Off-Ramp linking the Dublin-Naas road (National Road N7) and the Naas By-Pass.

19. The following roads at Nurney:—

( a ) The Athy Road for a distance of 350 metres from its junction with the Monasterevan Road,

( b ) The Monasterevan Road for a distance of 50 metres from its junction with the Athy Road,

( c ) The Kildare Road for a distance of 200 metres from its junction with the Monasterevan Road.

20. The following road at Palatine:

The Baltinglass Road for a distance of 195 metres from the boundary between the counties of Carlow and Kildare at Palatine Bridge.

21. The following roads at Prosperous:

( a ) Churchview Lawns housing estate roads.

( b ) The Clane-Allenwood road between a point 90 metres west of its junction with the Robertstown Road and a point 335 metres east of its junction with the Staplestown Road.

( c ) The Robertstown Road for a distance of 120 metres from its junction with the Clane-Allenwood road.

( d ) The Staplestown Road between its junction with the Clane-Allenwood road and a point 275 metres north-west of its junction with the Maynooth Road.

( e ) The Maynooth Road for a distance of 335 metres from its junction with the Staplestown Road.

( f ) The Landenstown Road between its junction with the Clane-Allenwood road and a point 135 metres north-west of the Hatters Cross Roads.

22. The following roads at Rathangan:

( a ) Ard Mhuire Cottages Road, Bridge Street, Chapel Street, Crescent Cottages Road, Market Square, Rectory Road, Annsboro Road.

( b ) The Monasterevin Road between its junction with the Kildare Road and a point 20 metres north of its junction with the Kiltaghan Road.

( c ) The Kildare Road for a distance of 300 metres from its junction with the Monasterevin Road.

( d ) New Street and its continuation as the Lullymore Road to a point 600 metres from the junction of Chapel Street with Main Street.

( e ) Main Street and its continuation as the Ballydermot Road to a point 25 metres north-west of its junction with the Yellow Lough Cross Roads.

( f ) The Sheane Road between its junction with Main Street and a point 25 metres west of its junction with Annsboro Road.

23. The following roads at Sallins:

( a ) Chapel Lane, Chapel Avenue, St. Brigid's Terrace housing estate roads.

( b ) The Naas-Clane road between a point 715 metres north of the northernmost entrance road to St. Brigid's Terrace housing estate and a point 320 metres south of the centre line of the Railway Bridge.

( c ) North Canal View and its continuation as the Straffan Road between its junction with the Naas-Clane road and a point 35 metres east of its junction with Chapel Lane.

( d ) South Canal View and its continuation as the Kerdiffstown Road for a distance of 310 metres from its junction with the Naas-Clane road.

( e ) The road connecting the Naas-Clane road with North Canal View.

( f ) The road connecting the Naas-Clane road with South Canal View.

24. The following roads at Suncroft:—

( a ) The Curragh-Athy road between a point 90 metres south-west of its junction with Askinrow Lane and a point 900 metres north-east of the said junction.

( b ) Askinrow Lane for a distance of 305 metres from its junction with the Curragh-Athy road.

25. The following roads at Two-Mile-House:

( a ) The Athgarvan Road between a point 350 metres south-west of its junction with Church Lane and a point 330 metres north-east of the said junction.

( b ) The Church Lane for a distance of 90 metres from its junction with the Athgarvan Road.

THIRD SCHEDULE.

Roads in respect of which a special speed limit of 40 miles per hour is prescribed.

1. The following roads at Allenwood:

( a ) The Edenderry-Clane road between a point 355 metres east of its junction with the Littletown Road and a point 320 metres west of the said junction.

( b ) The Power Station Road for a distance of 60 metres from its junction with the Edenderry-Clane road.

( c ) The Littletown Road for a distance of 185 metres from its junction with the Edenderry-Clane road.

( d ) The Bluetown Road for a distance of 25 metres from its junction with the Edenderry-Clane Road.

2. The following roads in and adjacent to the Urban District of Athy:—

( a ) The Carlow Road between a point 68 metres south of its junction with the Aughaboura Road and a point 570 metres south of the said junction.

( b ) The Ballylinan Road (National Road N78) between a point 11 metres north-east of the urban district boundary and a point 367 metres north-east of the said boundary.

( c ) The Naas Road (National Road N78) between a point 150 metres east of its junction with the Kildare Road and a point 425 metres north-east of its junction with the Castledermot Road.

3. The following roads at Carragh:—

( a ) The Naas-Robertstown road between a point 125 metres north of its junction with the Thomastown Road and a point 50 metres south of the centre line of the railway bridge.

( b ) The Thomastown Road from its junction with the Naas-Robertstown road to a point 275 metres south-west of the said junction.

4. The following road at Castledermot:

( a ) The Carlow Road (National Road N9) between a point 90 metres south-west of its junction with the Tullow Road and a point 283 metres south-west of the said junction.

( b ) The Dublin Road (National Road N9) between a point 130 metres north of the Pike Cross and a point 950 metres north of the said cross.

5. The following roads at Derrinturn:

( a ) The Dublin-Edenderry road between a point 410 metres south-east of its junction with the Ballyshannon Road and a point 615 metres north-west of the said junction.

( b ) The Ballyshannon Road for a distance of 425 metres from its junction with the Dublin-Edenderry road.

6. The following roads at Johnstown Bridge:

( a ) The Innfield (Enfield)-Carbury road between a point 35 metres south-west of the boundary between the counties of Meath and Kildare and a point 35 metres south-west of its junction with the Kilmore Road.

( b ) The Kilmore Road for a distance of 130 metres from its junction with the Innfield (Enfield)-Carbury road.

( c ) The Donadea Road for a distance of 90 metres from its junction with the Innfield (Enfield)-Carbury road.

( a ) The Athy-Monasterevin road between a point 260 metres north-west of its junction with the Bog Road and a point 1,080 metres north of its junction with Bord na Mona Lane.

( a ) The Dublin-Mullingar road (National Road N4) between a point 660 metres north-west of its junction with the Naas Road and a point 90 metres west of the centre line of Spin Bridge.

( b ) The Navan Road for a distance of 35 metres from its junction with Dublin-Mullingar road (National Road N4).

( c ) The Dublin-Mullingar road (National Road N4) between a point 320 metres south-east of its junction with the Naas Road and a point 550 metres south-west of the said junction.

9. The following roads at Kilcullen:—

( a ) Moanbane housing estate roads,. Bishop Rogan Park housing estate roads.

( b ) The Naas-Carlow road (National Road N9) between a point 20 metres north of its junction with the Logstown Road and a point 20 metres north of the entrance road to Moanbane Park.

10. The following roads at Kildare:

( a ) The Droichead Nua Road (National Road N7) between a point 230 metres north-east of its junction with the Frenchfurze Road and a point 940 metres north-east of the said junction.

( b ) The Monasterevin Road (National Road N7) between a point 90 metres west of its junction with Pigeon Lane and a point 481 metres west of the said junction.

( c ) The Milltown Road been a point 366 metres north of its junction with the Melitta Road and a point 1205 metres north of the said junction.

11. The following roads at Leixlip:

( a ) The Mullingar Road (National Road N4) between a point 65 metres northwest of its junction with Old Green Lane and a point 200 metres west of its junction with the Kellystown Road.

( b ) New Green Lane for a distance of 25 metres from its junction with the Mullingar Road (National Road N4) at Louisa Bridge.

( c ) The Kellystown Road for a distance of 50 metres from its junction with the Mullingar Road (National Road N4).

( d ) The road to Deey Bridge for a distance of 40 metres from its junction with the Mullingar Road (National Road N4).

12. The following roads at Maynooth:

( a ) The Dublin-Mullingar road (National Road N4) from a point 35 metres east of its junction with Carton Lane and a point 480 metres east of the said junction.

( b ) The Dublin-Mullingar road (National Road N4) from a point 400 metres south-west of its junction with the Moyglare Road to a point 1,200 metres south-west of the said junction.

( c ) The Clane Road between a point 265 metres south-west of its junction with the Ballygoran Road and a point 920 metres south-west of the said junction.

( d ) The Maynooth Road from a point 40 metres north of the northernmost entrance to Crodaun Estate, to a point 640 metres north-west of the said point.

13. The following roads at Monasterevan:

( a ) Ballyfarsoon Lane.

( b ) The Kildare Road (National Road N7) between a point 183 metres south-east of its junction with Drogheda Street and a point 75 metres north-east of Turnpike Cross Roads.

( c ) The Portlaoise Road (National Road N7) between a point 160 metres south-west of the centre line of Towns Bridge and a point 230 metres north-east of the centre line of Clogheen Canal Bridge.

( d ) The Cowpasture Road between its junction with the Kildare Road (National Road N7) and a point 412 metres south-east of its junction with Drogheda Row.

( e ) The Athy Road been its junction with the Kildare Road (National Road N7) and a point 245 metres south of Kill Cross Roads.

( f ) The Ballyfarsoon Road for a distance of 230 metres from its junction with the Athy Road.

( g ) The Cloneygath Road for a distance of 145 metres from its junction with the Athy Road.

( a ) The Dublin-Carlow road (National Road N9) from a point 275 metres north of its junction with the Moone Abbey Road to a point 150 metres south of its junction with the Colin Road.

( b ) The Moone Abbey Road for a distance of 50 metres from its junction with the Dublin-Carlow road (National Road N9).

( c ) The Colin Road for a distance of 60 metres from its junction with the Dublin-Carlow road (National Road N9).

15. The following road in the Urban District of Naas:

The Droichead Nua Road (National Road N7) between a point 90 metres south-west of its junction with St. David's Terrace, and a point 1,205 metres north-east of the urban district boundary.

16. The following roads at Rathangan:

( a ) The Kildare Road between a point 300 metres south-east of its junction with the Monastereven Road and a point 975 metres south-east of the said junction.

( b ) The Sheane Road between a point 25 metres west of its junction with the Annsboro Road and a point 70 metres north-east of the boundary between the counties of Offaly and Kildare.

17. The following roads at Straffan:

( a ) The Kill-Maynooth road between a point 130 metres north of its junction with the Clane-Celbridge road and a point 75 metres south of its junction with the Bohereen Road.

( b ) The Clane-Celbridge road between a point 190 metres east of its junction with the Kill-Maynooth road and a point 455 metres north-west of the said junction.

( c ) The Bohereen Road for a distance of 75 metres from its junction with the Kill-Maynooth road.

18. The following roads at Timolin:

( a ) The Dublin-Carlow road (National Road N9) from a point 110 metres north east of its junction with the Portersize Road and a point 210 metres north west of its junction with the Glebe Road.

( b ) The Portersize Road for a distance of 150 metres from its junction with the Dublin-Carlow road (National Road N9).

( c ) The Glebe Road for a distance of 260 metres from its junction with the Dublin-Carlow road (National Road N9).

EXPLANATORY NOTE.

These Regulations replace the Road Traffic (Speed Limits) (County of Kildare) Regulations, 1989 ( S.I. No. 230 of 1989 ) and alter the speed limits applicable to certain roads in this area.

The Regulations exclude the public roads mentioned in the First Schedule from the scope of the built-up area speed limit prescribed by Section 45 of the Road Traffic Act, 1961 , and declare the public roads mentioned in the Second Schedule to be subject to that speed limit.

The Regulations also prescribe a speed limit of 40 miles per hour in respect of the public roads mentioned in the Third Schedule.

Ambulances, fire brigade vehicles and Garda Siochana vehicles while being used in the course of duty are excepted from all speed limits by the Regulations.
