EUROPEAN COMMUNITIES (EGG PRODUCTS) REGULATIONS, 1992.

I, JOE WALSH, Minister for Agriculture and Food, in exercise of the powers conferred on me by Section 3 of the European Communities Act, 1972 (No. 27 of 1972) and for the purpose of giving effect to Council Directive No. 91/684/EEC(1) of 19 December 1991, hereby make the following regulations:—

(1) O.J. No. 376, 31.12.1991, p. 38.

1. (1) These Regulations may be cited as the European Communities (Egg Products) Regulations, 1992.

(2) These Regulations shall come into force on 31st day of December, 1992.

2. The European Communities (Egg Products) Regulations, 1991 ( S.I. No. 293 of 1991 ) and these Regulations may be cited together as the European Communities (Egg Products) Regulations, 1991 and 1992.

3. The European Communities (Egg Products) Regulations, 1991, are hereby amended by the substitution in Regulation 2 (1) of the following definition for the definition of "the Council Directive":

"'the Council Directive' means Council Directive No. 89/437/EEC of 20 June 1989, as amended by Council Directive 91/684/EEC of 19 December 1991."

EXPLANATORY NOTE.

These Regulations implement Council Directive (91/684/EEC) of 19 December 1991 which amends Council Directive 89/437/EEC on hygiene and health problems affecting the production and placing on the market of egg products. The amendments in question are in respect of the analytical specifications to reflect scientific and technological progress since the Directive was adopted in 1989.
