INLAND POST AMENDMENT (NO. 48) SCHEME, 1992.

AN POST, in exercise of the powers conferred on it by Section 70 of the Postal and Telecommunications Services Act, 1983 (No. 24 of 1983), and with the consent of the Minister for Tourism, Transport and Communications, hereby makes the following Scheme:

1. (1) This Scheme may be cited as the Inland Post Amendment (No. 48) Scheme, 1992.

(2) This Scheme shall be operative from the 6th day of April, 1992.

2. In this Scheme—

"The Principal Warrant" means the Inland Post Warrant, 1939 ( S.I. No. 202 of 1939 ).

"Scheme No. 47" means the Inland Post Amendment (No. 47) Scheme, 1991 ( S.I. No. 95 of 1991 ).

3. Section 8 of the First Schedule of the Principal Warrant is hereby amended by the substitution for the entries therein (inserted by Regulation 8 of the Scheme No. 47) of the entries in the First Schedule to this Scheme.

4. This Fifth Schedule to the Principal Warrant is hereby amended by the substitution for the entries therein (inserted by Regulation 12 of Scheme No. 47) of the entries in the Second Schedule to this Scheme.

5. The Seventh Schedule to the Principal Warrant is hereby amended by the substitution of the entries therein (inserted by Regulation 14 of Scheme No. 47) of the entries in the Third Schedule to this Scheme.

6. The First Schedule to the Inland Post Amendment (No. 31) Scheme, 1985 ( S.I. No. 94 of 1985 ), inserted by Regulation 15 of Scheme No. 47, is hereby amended by the substitution for the entries therein of the entries in the Fourth Schedule to this Scheme.

If collected by Motor Cycle £12.00. If collected by other means of conveyance £24.00 plus £1 per kg. in excess of 2 kg. whichever is the greater plus waiting time at £1 per 15 minutes.

Fragile, bulky or heavy items will not be carried by motor cycle. If the address of the addressee is not in the Republic of Ireland an adhesive customs declaration form in a format approved by An Post plus three copies of a commercial invoice must accompany each courier postal packet.

Plus a conveyance and delivery charge of £15 for packets of 1 kg. or less, £18 for packets of 1 to 5 kg. and £1 per additional kg. if the point of delivery and collection are in different cities or towns within the State. If the point of delivery is outside the State a conveyance and delivery charge of £50 plus £1.50 for every kg. in excess of 5 kg.

EXPLANATORY NOTE.

This Scheme applies to the Inland Post Service and shall be operative from the 6th day of April, 1992. It authorises increases in the parcel post rates of postage and in the fees charged for the EMS Courier and Cash-on-Delivery Services. It also authorises an increase in the weight limit for the parcel post and EMS Courier Services.
