DUBLIN METER PARKING PLACES RULES, 1992.

Rules for the administration of meter parking places in the County Borough of Dublin, made by the Right Honourable, the Lord Mayor, Aldermen and Burgesses of Dublin, the appropriate local authority in exercise of powers conferred by Section 90 (3) (b) of the Road Traffic Act, 1961 (No. 24 of 1961)—

1 Citation.

1. These Rules may be cited as the Dublin Meter Parking Places Rules, 1992.

2 Commencement.

2. These Rules shall come into force on 1st September, 1992.

3. In these Rules:—

"the Principal Rules" means the Dublin Meter Parking Places Rules 1985 ( S.I. No. 27 of 1985 ).

4. Rule 4 of the Principal Rules is amended by the substitution of the following definition for "prime area":—

"prime area" means that area of the County Borough of Dublin bounded by and including the perimeters shown in parentheses of the following streets:—

Parnell Square North (north side), Parnell Square East (east side), Cavendish Row (east side), Parnell Street (north side) from Cavendish Row to Gardiner Street Lower, Gardiner Street Lower (east side), Beresford Place (north side), Memorial Road (east side) from Beresford Place to Matt Talbot Memorial Bridge, Matt Talbot Memorial Bridge (east side), Georges Quay (south side), Tara Street (east side), Pearse Street (south side) from its junction with Tara Street to College Street, College Street (south side), College Green (east side), Grafton Street (east side) between College Green and Nassau Street, Nassau Street (north side), Leinster Street South (north side), Lincoln Place (north side), Fenian Street (north side) between Lincoln Place and Merrion Street Lower, Merrion Street Lower (east side), Merrion Square North (north side), Merrion Square East (east side), Fitzwilliam Street Lower (east side), Fitzwilliam Street Upper (east side), Fitzwilliam Square East (east side), Fitzwilliam Place (east side), Adelaide Road (south side), Harcourt Street, (west side), Cuffe Street (south side), Redmonds Hill (west side), Aungier Street (west side), Georges Street Great South (west side) from Aungier Street to its junction with Dame Lane, Dame Lane (south side), Palace Street (west side), Dame Street (south side) from its junction with west side of Palace Street to its junction with Cork Hill, Parliament Street (west side), Grattan Bridge (west side), Ormond Quay Upper (south side), Inns Quay (south side), Church Street (east side) to its junction with Chancery Street, Chancery Street (north side), Arran Street East (west side) from its junction with Chancery Street, Little Green Street (west side), Little Britain Street (north side) between its junction with Green Street and Capel Street, Parnell Street (north side) from its junction with Capel Street to its junction with Dominick Street Lower (west side), Dominick Street Lower (west side) to its junction with Dominick Lane, Dominick Lane, Dominick Street Lower (west side) from its junction with Dominick Lane to its junction with Bolton Street, Dominick Street Lower (east side) from its junction with Dorset Street Upper to its junction with Dominick Place, Dominick Place, Dominick Street Lower (east side) from its junction with Dominick Place to its junction with Parnell Street (north side), Parnell Street (north side) from its junction with Dominick Street Lower to its junction with Parnell Square West, Parnell Square West (west side).

5. Rule 7 of the Principal Rules, as amended by the Dublin Meter Parking Places (No. 2) Rules 1985 ( S.I. No. 366 of 1985 ), and the Dublin Meter Parking Places Rules ( S.I. No. 232 of 1987 ) and the Dublin Meter Parking Places Rules 1989 ( S.I. No. 198 of 1989 ) is hereby further amended by the substitution of the following paragraph for paragraph (B):—

(B) The parking fee payable under paragraph (A) of this Rule shall in the "prime area" be:—

(i) one twenty pence coin for a continuous period not exceeding fifteen minutes, or

(ii) two twenty pence coins for a continuous period not exceeding thirty minutes, or

(iii) three twenty pence coins for a continuous period not exceeding forty-five minutes, or

(iv) four twenty-pence coins for a continuous period not exceeding one hour, or

(v) two fifty pence coins for a continuous period not exceeding one hour fifteen minutes, or

(vi) two fifty pence coins or five twenty pence coins for a continuous period not exceeding one hour, fifteen minutes, or

(vii) two fifty pence coins and one twenty pence coin for a period not exceeding one hour and thirty minutes, or

(viii) two fifty pence coins and two twenty pence coins for a period not exceeding one hour and forty-five minutes, or

(ix) two fifty pence coins and two twenty pence coins or seven twenty pence coins for a period not exceeding one hour and forty-five minutes, or

(x) two fifty pence coins and three twenty pence coins for a period not exceeding two hours.

6. Rule 7 of the Principal Rules, as amended by the Dublin Meter Parking Places (No. 2) Rules, 1985 ( S.I. No. 366 of 1985 ), and the Dublin Meter Parking Places Rules ( S.I. No. 232 of 1987 ) and the Dublin Meter Parking Places Rules ( S.I. No. 198 of 1989 ) is hereby further amended by the substitution of the following paragraph for paragraph (C):—

(C) The parking fee payable under paragraph (A) of this Rule shall in the "residual area" be:—

(i) one twenty pence coin for a continuous period not exceeding twenty minutes, or

(ii) two twenty pence coins for a continuous period not exceeding forty minutes, or

(iii) one fifty pence coin for a continuous period not exceeding fifty minutes, or

(iv) three twenty pence coins for a continuous period not exceeding one hour, or

(v) one fifty pence coin and one twenty pence coin for a continuous period not exceeding one hour and ten minutes, or

(vi) four twenty pence coins for a continuous period not exceeding one hour and twenty minutes, or

(vii) one fifty pence coin and two twenty pence coins for a continuous period not exceeding one hour and thirty minutes, or

(viii) five twenty pence coins or two fifty pence coins for a continuous period not exceeding one hour and forty minutes, or

(ix) three twenty pence coins and one fifty pence coin for a continuous period not exceeding one hour and fifty minutes, or

(x) six twenty pence coins or two fifty pence coins and one twenty pence coin for a continuous period not exceeding two hours.

EXPLANATORY NOTE.

These Rules amend Rule 4 of the Principal Rules whereby the "prime area" has been extended by the inclusion of certain streets which had been heretofore in the "residual area".

These Rules also amend Rule 7 of the Dublin Meter Parking Places Rules 1987 ( S.I. No. 232 of 1987 ) and the Dublin Meter Parking Places Rules 1989 ( S.I. No. 198 of 1989 ) to provide for increases in the rates of parking fees payable in the "prime area" from 60p per hour to 80p per hour and for an increase in the rate of parking fees payable in the "residual area" from 40p per hour to 60p per hour.
