MERCHANT SHIPPING ACT, 1992 (COMMENCEMENT) ORDER, 1992.

I, MICHAEL WOODS, Minister for the Marine, in exercise of the powers conferred on me by section 1 (2) of the Merchant Shipping Act, 1992 (No. 2 of 1992), hereby order as follows:

1. This Order may be cited as the Merchant Shipping Act, 1992 (Commencement) Order, 1992.

2. (1) The 1st day of August, 1992 is hereby fixed as the day on which the Merchant Shipping Act, 1992 (No. 2 of 1992) (other than Part II and section 4, in so far as it repeals the provisions specified in paragraph (2) of this Article), shall come into operation.

(2) The provisions referred to in paragraph (1) of this Article are sections 271 to 286 and 288 of the Merchant Shipping Act, 1894, sections 21 and 22 of the Merchant Shipping Act, 1906, section 17 (1) of the Merchant Shipping (Safety Convention) Act, 1952 (No. 4 of 1952), section 19 (1) of the Merchant Shipping Act, 1966 (No. 29 of 1966) and sections 7 and 9 of the Merchant Shipping Act, 1981 (No. 33 of 1981).
