ROAD TRAFFIC (SPEED LIMITS) (COUNTY OF LAOIS) REGULATIONS, 1992.

The Minister for the Environment in exercise of the powers conferred on him by sections 5 and 45 of the Road Traffic Act, 1961 (No. 24 of 1961) and section 46 of the said Act as amended by section 25 of the Road Traffic Act, 1968 (No. 25 of 1968) hereby makes the following Regulations:—

1 Citation.

1. These Regulations may be cited as the Road Traffic (Speed Limits) (County of Laoighis) Regulations, 1992.

2 Commencement.

2. These Regulations shall come into operation on the 2nd day of June 1992.

3 Interpretation.

3. In these Regulations save where the context otherwise requires:

"the Act" means the Road Traffic Act, 1961 ;

"distance" means distance as measured along the centre line of a road;

"national road" means a road declared to be a national road in the Local Government (Roads and Motorways) Act, 1974 (Declaration of National Roads) Order, 1977 ( S.I. No. 164 of 1977 ) and any reference to the number of such road shall be a reference to the number of such road as shown in column 1 of the First Schedule or column 1 of the Second Schedule to the aforementioned Order;

"perimeter road" means a road on and along the roadway of which there runs the boundary of an urban district or a town and shall be considered as being within such boundary for the purposes of these regulations;

"road" means a public road;

"special speed Limit" and "built-up area speed limit" have the meanings respectively assigned to them in Part IV of the Act.

4 Built-up area speed limit.

4. (1) Each of the roads described in the First Schedule to these Regulations is hereby declared not to be a public road in a built-up area for the purposes of section 45 of the Act.

(2) Each of the roads described in the Second Schedule to these Regulations is hereby declared to be a public road in a build-up area for the purposes of section 45 of the Act.

5 Special speed limit.

5. Forty miles per hour shall be the speed limit for mechanically propelled vehicles on the roads specified in the Third Schedule to these Regulations.

6 Exceptions.

6. There shall be excepted from the special speed limit prescribed in article 5 of these Regulations and from the built-up area speed limit the following:—

( a ) ambulances,

( b ) fire brigade vehicles, and

( c ) vehicles used by members of the Garda Síochána in the performance of their duties as such members.

7 Revocations.

7. The Road Traffic (Speed Limit) (County of Laoighis) Regulations, 1986 ( S.I. No. 72 of 1986 ) are hereby revoked.

FIRST SCHEDULE.

Roads in the County of Laoighis declared not to be public roads in a built-up area for the purposes of section 45 of the Road Traffic Act, 1961 .

The following roads in the town of Mountmellick:—

( a ) Manor Lane.

( b ) Manor Street and its continuation as the Mountrath Road between the boundary of the town of Mountmellick and a point 115 metres south-west of the junction of Manor Street with Wolfe Tone Street.

SECOND SCHEDULE.

Roads in the County of Laoighis declared to be public roads in a built-up area for the purposes of Section 45 of the Road Traffic Act, 1961 .

1. The following roads at Abbeyleix:—

All roads in the area enclosed by a line commencing at a point on the Mountrath Road 320 metres north west of its junction with the Tullyroe Road and drawn thence initially in a northerly direction for a distance of 130 metres and thence in an easterly direction to a point on the Portlaoighse-Durrow Road (National Road N8) 215 metres north north-west of its junction with the Ballyroan Road and thence initially in a north easterly direction for a distance of 350 metres and thence in an easterly direction to a point on the Ballyroan Road 770 metres north of its junction with the Portlaoighse-Durrow Road (National Road N8) and thence in straight lines successively to the following points:—

( a ) a point on the Carlow Road 385 metres east of its junction with the Ballinakill Road,

( b ) a point on the Ballinakill Road 275 metres south-east of its junction with the Carlow Road,

( c ) a point on the Ballymullen Road 225 metres south-east of its junction with the Portlaoighse-Durrow Road (National Road N8),

( d ) a point on the Portlaoighse-Durrow Road (National Road N8) 80 metres south of its junction with the Ballymullen Road,

( e ) a point on the Rathdowney Road 470 metres south-west of its junction with the Durrow-Portlaoighse Road (National Road N8),

2. The following road at Arless:—

The Portlaoighse-Carlow Road (National Road N80) between a point 320 metres north of its junction with the Ashfield Road and a point 244 metres south-east of its junction with the Monument Road.

3. The following roads at Ballickmoyler:—

All roads in the area enclosed by a line commencing at a point on the Carlow Road (National Road N80) 175 metres north west of its junction with the Maganey Road and drawn thence in straight lines successively to the following points:—

( a ) a point on the Maganey Road 82 metres north-east of its junction with the Carlow Road (National Road N80),

( b ) a point on the Portlaoighse Road (National Road N80) 363 metres south-east of its junction with the Towlerton Road,

( c ) a point on the Towlerton Road 100 metres south west of its junction with the Carlow Road (National Road N80),

and thence in a north westerly direction to the commencement point on the Carlow Road (National Road N80).

4. The following roads at Ballinakill:—

All roads in the area enclosed by a line commencing at a point on the Ballyragget Road 380 metres south of its junction with the Kilkenny Road and drawn thence initially in a north westerly direction for a distance of 285 metres and thence in a north easterly direction to a point on the Durrow Road 60 metres south west of its junction with the Ballyragget Road and drawn thence in straight lines successively to the following points:—

( a ) a point on the Lisbigney Road and its continuation as Brides Street 280 metres west of its junction with the Abbeyleix Road,

( b ) a point on the Abbeyleix Road 545 metres north of its junction with Brides Street,

( c ) a point on the Heywood College Road 223 metres north east of its junction with the Kilcronan Road,

( d ) a point on the Timahoe Road 44 metres north west of its junction with the Abbeyleix Road,

and thence in a south westerly direction to the commencement point on the Kilkenny Road.

5. The following roads at Ballycolla:—

All roads in the area enclosed by a line commencing at a point on the Borris-in-Ossory Road 400 metres north west of its junction with the Abbeyleix Road and drawn thence in straight lines successively to the following points:—

( a ) a point on the Abbeyleix Road 235 metres north east of its junction with the Borris-in-Ossory Road,

( b ) a point on the Durrow Road 340 metres south east of its junction with the Abbeyleix Road,

( c ) a point on the Rathdowney Road 277 metres south west of its junction with the Durrow Road,

and thence in a northerly direction to the commencement point on the Borris-in-Ossory Road.

6. The following roads at Ballyroan:—

All the roads in the area enclosed by a line commencing at a point on the Abbeyleix Road 154 metres west of its junction with the Ballinakill Road and drawn thence in straight lines successively to the following points:—

( a ) a point on the Colt Road 200 metres north west of its junction with the Portlaoighse Road,

( b ) a point on the Portlaoighse Road 210 metres north east of its junction with the Colt Road,

( c ) a point on the Spink Road 625 metres east of its junction with the Portlaoighse Road,

( d ) a point on the Ballinakill Road 110 metres south west of its junction with the Abbeyleix Road,

and thence in a north north westerly direction to the commencement point on the Abbeyleix Road.

7. The following roads at Borris-in-Ossory:—

All roads in the area enclosed by a line commencing at a point on the Skirke Road 230 metres south west of its junction with the Limerick-Portlaoighse Road (National Road N7) and drawn thence initially in a north westerly direction for a distance of 210 metres thence in a mainly northerly direction for a distance of 80 metres and thence in an easterly direction to a point on the Limerick-Portlaoighse Road (National Road N7) 30 metres west of its junction with the Skirke Road and thence in straight lines successively to the following points:—

( a ) a point on the Rock Road 150 metres north west of its junction with the Limerick-Portlaoighse Road (National Road N7),

( b ) a point on the Portlaoighse-Limerick Road (National Road N7) 60 metres east of its junction with the Rathdowney Road,

( c ) a point on the Rathdowney Road 100 metres south of its junction with the Portlaoighse-Limerick Road (National Road N7),

and thence in a westerly direction to the commencement point on the Spink Road.

8. The following roads adjacent to the Urban District of Carlow:—

( a ) The Oakley Park Housing Estate Roads.

( b ) The Rossmore View Housing Estate Roads.

( c ) The Sleaty Road for a distance of 220 metres north of the point where the boundary of the Urban District of Carlow intersects the said road.

( d ) The Carlow-Portlaoighse Road (National Road N80) for a distance of 375 metres north west of the point where the boundary of the Urban District of Carlow intersects the said road.

( e ) The Church Road for a distance of 45 metres north east of its junction with the Castlecomer Road.

( f ) The Castlecomer Road for a distance of 590 metres north west of the point where the boundary of the Urban District of Carlow intersects the said road.

( g ) The Numbers Road for a distance of 170 metres west at the point where the boundary of the Urban District of Carlow intersects the said road.

( h ) The Crossneen Road for a distance of 315 metres south-west of the point where the boundary of the Urban District of Carlow intersects the said road.

9. The following roads at Castletown:—

All roads in the area enclosed by a straight line commencing at a point on the Churchfield Road a distance of 28 metres south of its junction with the Limerick-Portlaoighse Road (National Road N7) and drawn thence in straight lines successively to the following points:—

( a ) a point on the Mountrath Road 128 metres south of its junction with the Knockanina Road,

( b ) a point on the Kilbricken Road 310 metres south-east of its junction with the Mountrath Road,

and thence in a north westerly direction to the commencement point on the Churchfield Road.

10. The following roads at Clonaslee:—

All roads in the area enclosed by a line commencing at a point on the Cut Road 170 metres south of its junction with the Mountmellick Road and drawn thence initially in a westerly direction for a distance of 170 metres thence in a mainly north westerly direction for a distance of 350 metres and thence in a north westerly direction to a point on the Gorragh Road 130 metres south of its junction with the Birr Road and thence in straight lines successively to the following points:—

( a ) a point on the Brittas Road 90 metres south of its junction with the Birr Road,

( b ) a point on the Birr Road 455 metres west of its junction with the Tullamore Road,

( c ) a point on the Tullamore Road 300 metres north of its junction with the Birr Road,

( d ) a point on the Mountmellick Road 170 metres east of its junction with the Cut Road,

and thence in a south westerly direction to the commencement point on the Cut Road.

11. The following roads at Durrow:—

All roads in the area enclosed by a line commencing at a point on the Abbeyleix-Cork Road (National Road N8) 25 metres north east of its junction with the Ballycolla Road and drawn thence initially in a south easterly direction for a distance of 435 metres thence in a south westerly direction to a point on the Ballyragget Road (National Road N77) 240 metres south east of its junction with the Derry Road and thence in straight lines successively to the following points:—

( a ) a point on the Derry Road 120 metres south of its junction with the Ballyragget Road (National Road N77),

( b ) a point on the Cork-Abbeyleix Road and its continuation as Patrick Street (National Road N8) 442 metres south west of its junction with Old Chapel Street,

( c ) a point on the Ballycolla Road 100 metres north west of its junction with the Abbeyleix-Cork Road (National Road N8).

and thence in a south easterly direction to the commencement point on the Abbeyleix-Cork Road (National Road N8).

12. The following roads at Emo:—

( a ) The Killimy Housing Estate Roads.

( b ) The Mountmellick Road for a distance of 320 metres north west of its junction with the Coolbanagher Road.

( c ) Emo Park Road for a distance of 67 metres north east of its junction with the Mountmellick Road.

( d ) The New Inn Road for a distance of 170 metres south-east of its junction with the Coolbanagher Road.

( e ) The Coolbanagher Road for a distance of 457 metres south west of its junction with the Mountmellick Road.

13. The following roads at Errill:—

( a ) The Village View Housing Estate Roads.

( b ) The Castlefleming Road for a distance of 160 metres north of its junction with the Rathdowney Road.

( c ) The Rathdowney Road for a distance of 270 metres east of its junction with the Castlefleming Road.

( d ) The School Road for a distance of 200 metres south of its junction with the Rathdowney Road.

( e ) The Templemore Road for a distance of 350 metres west of its junction with the Castlefleming Road.

14. The following roads adjacent to Mountmellick:—

( a ) The Tullamore Road (National Road N80) for a distance of 200 metres north west of the point where the boundary of the town of Mountmellick intersects the said road.

( b ) The Bay Road for a distance of 50 metres north north east of the point where the boundary of the town of Mountmellick intersects the said road.

( c ) The Portarlington Road for a distance of 60 metres north of the point where the boundary of the town of Mountmellick intersects the said road.

( d ) The Emo Road for a distance of 30 metres east of the point where the boundary of the town of Mountmellick intersects the said road.

( e ) The Ridge Road for a distance of 435 metres south east of the point where the boundary of the town of Mountmellick intersects the said road.

( f ) The Portlaoighse Road (National Road N80) for a distance of 70 metres south of the point where the boundary of the town of Mountmellick intersects the said road.

( g ) Manor Street for a distance of 115 metres south of its junction with Wolfe Tone Street.

( h ) The Birr Road for a distance of 320 metres west of the point where the boundary of the town of Mountmellick intersects the said road.

15. The following roads at Mountrath:—

All roads in the area enclosed by a straight line commencing at a point on the Ballyfin Road and its continuation as Mary Street 490 metres north east of its junction with the Rushin Road and drawn thence in straight lines successively to the following points:—

( a ) a point on the Kiln Lane a distance of 440 metres east of its junction with the Ballyfin Road,

( b ) a point on the Portlaoighse Road (National Road N7) 490 metres east of its junction with the Rushin Road and its continuation as Church Street,

( c ) a point on the Shannon road 505 metres east of its junction with the Abbeyleix Road and its continuation as Shannon Street,

( d ) a point on the Abbeyleix Road 580 metres south east of its junction with the Shannon Road,

( e ) a point on the Limerick Road (National Road N7) 230 metres south west of its junction with the Derrycanton Road,

( f ) a point on the Derrycanton Road 245 metres west of its junction with the Limerick Road (National Road N7) and its continuation as Patrick Street,

All roads in the area enclosed by a straight line commencing at a point on the Edenderry Road 275 metres north east of its junction with the Bishopswood Road and drawn thence in straight lines successively to the following points:—

( a ) a point on the Bishopswood Road 555 metres north east of its junction with the Edenderry Road,

( b ) a point on the Droughill Road 875 metres south east of its junction with the Bishopswood Road,

( c ) a point on the Monasterevin Road 460 metres east of its junction with the Canal Road,

( d ) a point on the Tierhogar Road 110 metres south east of its junction with the Monasterevin Road,

( e ) a point on the Ballybrittas Road 165 metres south of its junction with the Canal Road,

( f ) a point on the Canal Road 400 metres west of its junction with the Ballybrittas Road and its continuation as Railway Road,

All roads in an area enclosed by a line commencing at a point on Watery Lane 50 metres south south west of its junction with Father Brown Avenue and drawn thence initially in a north westerly direction for a distance of 410 metres and thence north easterly to a point on the Mountrath Road (National Road N7) 140 metres west of the point where the boundary of the town of Portlaoighse intersects the said road and thence to a point on Harpers Lane 350 metres west of the point where the boundary of the town of Portlaoighse intersects the said road and thence to a point on the Ballyfin Road 480 metres west of its junction with the Mountmellick Road (National Road N80) and thence initially in a north westerly direction for a distance of 285 metres and thence in a north easterly direction for a distance of 235 metres and thence in an east north easterly direction to a point on the Mountmellick Road (National Road N80) 55 metres north west of its junction with the Elm Lawn Housing Estate Access Road and drawn thence in straight lines successively to the following points:—

( b ) a point on the Johnstown Road 200 metres south west of its junction with the Kilcoran Road,

( c ) a point on the Templetouhy Road 380 metres south west of its junction with the southern most access road to a O'Daly Terrace,

( d ) a point on the Errill Road 300 metres south west of its junction with the Donaghmore Road,

( e ) a point on the Donaghmore Road 400 metres north west of its junction with the Errill Road,

and thence in a mainly easterly direction to the commencement point on the Abbeyleix Road.

19. The following roads at Rosenallis:—

All roads in the area enclosed by a line commencing at a point on the Clonaslee Road 195 metres north west of its junction with the Cappard Road and drawn thence in straight lines successively to the following points:—

( a ) a point on the Tullamore Road 435 metres north north east of its junction with the Kilcavan Road,

( b ) a point on the Kilcavan Road 205 metres east of its junction with the Tullamore Road,

( c ) a point on the Mountmellick Road 300 metres south east of its junction with the Tullamore Road,

( d ) a point on the Cappard Road a distance of 195 metres south south west of its junction with the Clonaslee Road,

and thence in a north westerly direction to the commencement point on the Clonaslee Road.

All roads in an area enclosed by a line commencing at a point on the Athy Road 325 metres north east of its junction with the Carlow Road (National Road N80) and drawn thence initially in a south easterly direction for a distance of 185 metres and thence in a south westerly direction to a point on the Carlow Road (National Road N80) 155 metres south east of its junction with the Athy Road and thence in straight lines successively to the following points:—

( a ) a point on the Timahoe Road 275 metres south west of its junction with the Carlow Road (National Road N80),

( b ) a point on the Abbeyleix Road 184 metres south west of its junction with the Portlaoighse Road (National Road N80),

( c ) a point on the Portlaoighse Road (National Road N80) 67 metres north west of its junction with the Abbeyleix Road,

( d ) a point on the Rathmore Road 150 metres north of its junction with the Portlaoighse Road (National Road N80),

( e ) a point on the Vicarstown Road 266 metres north east of its junction with the Portlaoighse Road (National Road N80),

21. The following roads at Swan:—

( a ) The Wolfhill Road for a distance of 110 metres north east of its junction with the Abbeyleix Carlow Road.

( b ) The Red Brick Housing Estate Roads.

( c ) The Abbeyleix-Carlow Road between a point 60 metres north west of its junction with the Wolfhill Road and a point 805 metres south of the said junction.

( d ) The Clough Road for a distance of 70 metres south west of its junction with the Abbeyleix-Carlow Road.

22. The following roads at Timahoe:—

All roads within the area enclosed by a line commencing at a point on the Portlaoighse Road 100 metres north west of its junction with the Stradbally Road and drawn thence initially in a north easterly direction for a distance of 505 metres and then in a mainly southern direction to a point on the Stradbally Road 440 metres north east of its junction with the Portlaoighse Road and thence in straight lines successively to the following points:—

( a ) a point on the Luggacurran Road 100 metres south east of its junction with the Portlaoighse Road at the Green,

( b ) a point on the Swan Road 190 metres south of its junction with the Stradbally Road,

( c ) a point on the Abbeyleix Road 130 metres south west of its junction with the Cremorgan Road,

( d ) a point on the Cremorgan Road 74 metres north west of its junction with the Abbeyleix Road,

and thence in a north easterly direction to the commencement point on the Portlaoighse Road.

THIRD SCHEDULE

Roads in the County of Laoighis in respect of which a special speed limit of 40 miles per hour is prescribed.

1. The following roads at Abbeyleix:-

( a ) The Portlaoighse-Durrow Road (National Road N8) between a point 215 metres north north west of its junction with the Ballyroan Road and point 460 metres north north west of the said junction.

( b ) The Durrow-Portlaoighse Road (National Road N8) between a point 80 metres south west of its junction with the Ballymullen Road and a point 360 metres south west of the said junction.

( c ) The Carlow Road between a point 385 metres east of its junction with the Ballinakill Road and a point 725 metres east of the said junction.

( d ) The Mountrath Road between a point 320 metres north west of its junction with the Tullyroe Road and a point 570 metres north west of the said junction.

( e ) The Rathdowney Road between a point 470 metres south-west of its junction with the Durrow-Portlaoighse Road (National Road N8) at Main Street and a point 940 metres south west of the said junction.

2. The following roads at Ballybrittas:—

All roads within the area enclosed by a line commencing at a point on the Portarlington Road 225 metres north west of its junction with the Dublin-Portlaoighse Road (National Road N7) and drawn thence in straight lines successively to the following points:—

( a ) a point on the Dublin-Portlaoighse Road (National Road N7) 165 metres north east of its junction with the Portarlington Road,

( b ) a point on the Rath Road a distance of 120 metres south east of its junction with the Dublin-Portlaoighis Road (National Road N7),

( c ) a point on the Portlaoighse-Dublin Road (National Road N7) 350 metres south west of its junction with the Rath Road,

and thence in a north easterly direction to the commencement point on the Portarlington Road.

3. The following roads at Ballylinan:—

All roads within the area enclosed by a line commencing at a point on the Rahin Road 350 metres north west of its junction with Rahin Lane and drawn thence in straight lines successively to the following points:—

( a ) a point on the centreline of the Athy Road (National Road N78) 180 metres north east of its junction with the Kilmorany Road,

( b ) a point on the Kilmorany Road 160 metres east of its junction with the Athy Road (National Road N78),

( c ) a point on the Castletown Road 170 metres south of its junction with the Castlecomer Road (National Road N78),

( d ) a point on the Castlecomer Road (National Road N78) 70 metres south west of its junction with the Milltown Road,

( e ) a point on the Milltown Road 155 metres north west of its junction with the Castlecomer Road (National Road N78),

( f ) a point on the Rahin Lane 180 metres north west of its junction with the Rahin Road,

( g ) the northernmost point of the Rahin Road west corner of the Housing Estate Road,

and thence in an easterly direction to the commencement point of the Rahin Road.

4. The following roads at Borris-in-Ossory:—

( a ) The Limerick-Portlaoighse Road (National Road N7) between a point 30 metres west of its junction with the Skirke Road and a point 265 metres west of the said junction.

( b ) The Portlaoighse-Limerick Road (National Road N7) between a point 60 metres east of its junction with the Rathdowney Road and a point 260 metres east of the said junction.

( c ) The Rathdowney Road between a point 100 metres south of its junction with the Portlaoighse-Limerick Road (National Road N7) and a point 354 metres south of the said junction.

5. The following roads at Cullahill:—

All roads within the area enclosed by a straight line commencing at a point on the Rathdowney Road 285 metres north west of its junction with the Cork-Durrow Road (National Road N8) and drawn thence in straight lines successively to the following points:—

( a ) a point on the Durrow-Cork Road (National Road N8) 298 metres north east of its junction with the Rathdowney Road,

( b ) a point on the Gattabaun Road 105 metres north west of its junction with the Aharney Road,

( c ) a point on the Cork-Durrow Road (National Road N8) 200 metres south west of its junction with the Rathdowney Road,

( d ) a point on the Parknahown Road 88 metres west of its junction with the Cork-Durrow Road (National Road N8)

and thence in a north westerly direction to the commencement point on the Rathdowney Road.

6. The following roads at Durrow:—

( a ) Patrick Street and its continuation as the Cork Road (National Road N8) between a point 442 metres south west of its junction with Old Chapel Street and a point 766 metres south west of the said junction.

( b ) The Abbeyleix Road (National Road N8) between a point 25 metres north east of its junction with the Ballacolla Road and a point 225 metres north east of the said junction.

( c ) The Ballyragget Road (National Road N77) between a point 240 metres south east of its junction with the Derry Road and a point 440 metres south east of the said junction.

7. The following roads at Mountrath:—

( a ) The Limerick Road (National Road N7) between a point 230 metres south west of its intersection with the Derrycanton Road and a point 600 metres south west of the said junction.

( b ) The Portlaoighse Road (National Road N7) between a point 490 metres east of its junction with the Rushin Road at Church Street and a point 690 metres east of the said junction.

8. The following roads at Portlaoighse:—

( a ) The Mountrath Road (National Road N7) between a point 140 metres west of the point where the boundary of the town of Portlaoighse intersects the said road and a point 230 metres south west of its junction with the Pallas Road.

( b ) The Dublin Road (National Road N7) between a point 60 metres north east of its junction with Colliers Lane and a point 360 metres north east of the said junction.

( c ) The Abbeyleix Road (National Road N8) between a point 285 metres south east of the point where the boundary of the town of Portlaoighse intersects the said road a point 755 metres south of the said intersection.

( d ) The Mountmellick Road (National Road N80) between a point 55 metres north west of its junction with the Elm Lawn Housing Estate Access Road and a point 440 metres north west of the said junction.

( e ) The Carlow Road (National Road N80) between a point 65 metres east of its junction with the Block Road and a point 365 metres east of the said junction.

( f ) The Timahoe Road between a point 300 metres south south east of its junction with the southern access road to Kylekiproe Industrial Estate and a point 600 metres south east of the said junction.

( g ) The Ridge Road for a distance of 465 metres north west of the point where the boundary of the town of Portlaoighse intersects the said road.

( h ) The Pallas Road for a distance of 160 metres from its junction with the Mountrath Road (National Road N7).

9. The following roads at Stradbally:—

( a ) The Portlaoighse Road (National Road N80) between a point 67 metres north west of its junction with the Abbeyleix Road and a point 267 metres north west of the said junction.

( b ) The Carlow Road (National Road N80) between a point 155 metres south east of its junction with the Athy Road and a point 425 metres south east of the said junction.

( c ) The Abbeyleix Road between a point 184 metres south west of its junction with the Portlaoighse Road (National Road N80) and a point 390 metres south west of the said junction.

EXPLANATORY NOTE.

The Regulations exclude the public roads mentioned in the First Schedule from the scope of the built-up area speed limit prescribed by section 45 of the Road Traffic Act, 1961 , and declare the public roads mentioned in the Second Schedule to be subject to that speed limit.

The Regulations also prescribe a speed limit of 40 miles per hour in respect of the public roads mentoned in the Third Schedule.

Ambulances, fire brigade vehicles and Garda Síochána vehicles while being used in the course of duty are exempt from all speed limits by the Regulations.
