EXTRADITION (EUROPEAN CONVENTION ON THE SUPPRESSION OF TERRORISM) ACT, 1987 (DESIGNATION OF CONVENTION COUNTRIES) (AMENDMENT) ORDER, 1990.

I, GERARD COLLINS T.D., Minister for Foreign Affairs, in exercise of the powers conferred on me by section 2 of the Extradition (European Convention on the Suppression of Terrorism) Act, 1987 (No. 1 of 1987 ), hereby order as follows:

1. (1) This Order may be cited as the Extradition (European Convention on the Suppression of Terrorism) Act, 1987 (Designation of Convention Countries) (Amendment) Order, 1990.

(2) This Order shall come into operation on the 10th day of May, 1990.

2. The Extradition (European Convention on the Suppression of Terrorism) Act, 1987 (Designation of Convention Countries) Order, 1989 ( S.I. No. 115 of 1989 ), is hereby amended by the insertion in the Schedule of "Finland" after "Denmark excluding the Faroe Islands and Greenland".

EXPLANATORY NOTE.

The European Convention on the Suppression of Terrorism entered into force in Ireland on 22 May, 1989.

This Convention, which has implications for extradition, is being implemented in the State on foot of Ministerial Orders which designate those States which are also parties to the Convention.

The effect of this Order is to enable extradition to take place with Finland pursuant to the said Convention.
