NATURE RESERVE (GLENEALO VALLEY) ESTABLISHMENT ORDER, 1988.

I, NOEL TREACY, Minister of State at the Department of Finance, after consultation with the Minister for Agriculture and Food, the Minister for the Marine and the Commissioners of Public Works in Ireland, being satisfied that the land specified in Article 2 of the following order, being land to which section 15 of the Wildlife Act, 1976 (No. 39 of 1976), applies, includes a peatland ecosystem which is of scientific interest and that the said ecosystem is likely to benefit if measures are taken for its protection and that it is desirable to establish the said land as a nature reserve and that the proper management of the said land as a nature reserve would not be precluded by any interest of any other person in or over the said land, for the purpose of conserving the said ecosystem hereby, in exercise of the powers conferred on me by section 15 of the said Act, the Wildlife (Transfer of Departmental Administration and Ministerial Functions) Order, 1987 ( S.I. No. 156 of 1987 ), and the Finance (Delegation of Ministerial Functions) Order, 1988 ( S.I. No. 3 of 1988 ), order as follows:

1. (1) This Order may be cited as the Nature Reserve (Glenealo Valley) Establishment Order, 1988.

(2) This Order shall come into operation on the 30th day of April, 1988.

2. (1) It is hereby declared that the land specified in paragraph (2) of this Article shall constitute and there is hereby established a nature reserve.

(2) The land referred to in paragraph (1) of this Article is the area of land comprising that part of Glenealo Valley situated in the townlands of Camaderry and Lugduff and county of Wicklow, other than any part thereof which forms part of a public road (if any) provided after the making of this Order, enclosed on the map annexed hereto within the inner margin of the black line and hatched thereon in black.

EXPLANATORY NOTE.

The nature reserve (Glenealo Valley) Establishment Order, 1988 establishes that part of the lands situated in the townlands of Camaderry and Lugduff in the County of Wicklow shown on the map annexed to the Order as a nature reserve under Section 15 of the Wildlife Act, 1976 so that it can be managed in such a way as to ensure the conservation of the peatland ecosystem which it constitutes.
