INLAND POST AMENDMENT (No. 41) SCHEME 1988.

AN POST, in exercise of the powers conferred on it by Section 70 of The Postal and Telecommunications Services Act, 1983 (No. 24 of 1983), hereby makes the following Scheme:

1. (i) This Scheme may be cited as the Inland Post Amendment (No. 41) Scheme, 1988.

(ii) This Scheme shall be operative with effect from the 7th day of March, 1988.

2. In this Scheme—

(i) "The Principal Warrant" means the Foreign Post Warrant, 1939 ( S.I. No. 202 of 1939 ).

(ii) "Scheme No. 28" means the Inland Post Amendment (No. 28) Scheme, 1984 ( S.I. No. 257 of 1984 ).

3. Regulation 49 of the Principal Warrant, is hereby amended by the substitution for £100 of £300.

4. The Principal Warrant is hereby amended by the substitution of the following for Regulation 53 (3):

"Validated cheques may be accepted in payment of trade charges and other charges, subject to rules governing acceptance of cheques laid down by An Post from time to time".

5. Regulation 53 (4) of the Principal Warrant is hereby amended by the substitution for £10 of £100.

6. Regulation 53 (5) of the Principal Warrant is hereby amended by the deletion of the words "charged with an additional delivery fee of 4d", and the substitution for the comma after the word "time" of a full stop.

7. Regulation 54 of the Principal Warrant is hereby amended by the substitution of "charged:—

(i) with any fees payable thereon (excluding the Trade Charge):

(ii) with fresh postage at ordinary rates for the return of the parcel to him." for "free of charge".

8. The Fifth Schedule of the Principal Warrant is hereby amended by the substitution for the entries therein (inserted by Regulation 4 of Scheme No. 28) of the entries in the First Schedule hereto.

EXPLANATORY NOTE.

The purpose of this Scheme is to alter certain rules relating to inland C.O.D. parcels and increase the maximum trade charge on inland C.O.D. parcels to a new limit of £300.
