COURTS (SUPPLEMENTAL PROVISIONS) ACT, 1961 (SECTION 46) ORDER, 1988

The Government, in exercise of the powers conferred on them by section 46 (9) of the Courts (Supplemental Provisions) Act, 1961 (No. 39 of 1961) (inserted by section 1 of the Courts (Supplemental Provisions) (Amendment) (No. 2) Act, 1968 (No. 21 of 1968)), as amended by sections 8 and 9 of the Oireachtas (Allowances to Members) and Ministerial, Parliamentary and Judicial Offices (Amendment) Act, 1983 (No. 32 of 1983), hereby make the following order:

1. This Order may be cited as the Courts (Supplemental Provisions) Act, 1961 (Section 46) Order, 1988.

2. The annual sums payable by way of remuneration under subsections (1), (2), (3) and (9) (which subsections were inserted by the Courts (Supplemental Provisions) (Amendment) (No. 2) Act, 1968 (No. 21 of 1968)) of section 46 of the Courts (Supplemental Provisions) Act, 1961 (No. 39 of 1961), to the Chief Justice and each ordinary judge of the Supreme Court, the President of the High Court and each ordinary judge of the High Court, the President of the Circuit Court and each ordinary judge of the Circuit Court and the President of the District Court and each other justice of the District Court shall, with effect from the 1st day of July, 1988, be and be deemed to have been—

to the Chief Justice

EXPLANATORY NOTE.

This Order applies to the salaries of the judiciary, with effect from 1st July, 1988, the increase recommended in the interim report dated 24th November, 1986 of the Review Body on Higher Remuneration in the Public Sector, up-dated and expressed in January, 1988 terms.
