ALAN M. DUKES,

Minister for Justice.

EXPLANATORY NOTE.

This Order varies the periods of winter time, and consequently summer time, for the years 1986, 1987 and 1988. The effect of the Order will be that standard (summer) time will begin two weeks later in 1986 and one week later in 1987 and 1988, respectively, than under the present law. A minor effect of the Order will be that the time of change from winter time to summer time and vice versa will be 1 a.m. in the morning (G.M.T.) rather than 2 a.m. This Order gives effect to an E.E.C. Directive concerning summer time in E.E.C. Member States.

This Order shall not come into operation until it has been approved by resolution of each House of the Oireachtas.
