TRAVELLERS' PROTECTION FUND (AMENDMENT) REGULATIONS, 1986.

I, JIM MITCHELL, Minister for Communications, in exercise of the powers conferred on me by sections 16 and 25 of the Transport (Tour Operators and Travel Agents) Act, 1982 (No. 3 of 1982), and the Ministers and Secretaries (Amendment) Act, 1983 (No. 40 of 1983), with the consent of the Minister for Finance, hereby make the following Regulations:

1. (1) These Regulations may be cited as the Travellers' Protection Fund (Amendment) Regulations, 1986.

(2) The Principal Regulations and these Regulations may be cited together as the Travellers' Protection Fund Regulations, 1984 and 1986, and shall be construed together as one.

(3) These Regulations shall come into operation on the 19th day of December, 1986.

2. In these Regulations "the Principal Regulations" means the Travellers' Protection Fund Regulations, 1984 ( S.I. No. 139 of 1984 ).

3. Contributions shall not be payable to the Fund under Regulation 4(1) of the Principal Regulations in respect of a person who enters into an overseas travel contract for carriage taking place on or after the 1st day of April, 1987.

4. Regulation 7 of the Principal Regulations shall not apply in relation to overseas travel contracts in respect of carriage on or after the 1st day of April, 1987.

EXPLANATORY NOTE.

These Regulations provide for the suspension of contributions to the Travellers' Protection Fund in respect of persons entering into overseas travel contracts which provide for travel to destinations outside Ireland on or after 1 April, 1987.
