INFECTIOUS DISEASES (MAINTENANCE) (No. 2) REGULATIONS, 1986.

The Minister for Health, in exercise of the powers vested in him by section 5 and sub-section (5) of section 44 of the Health Act, 1947 (No. 28 of 1947), hereby makes the following regulations:—

1. These Regulations may be cited as the Infectious Diseases (Maintenance) (No. 2) Regulations, 1986.

2. Where a person is or becomes entitled to payment under sub-section (3) of section 44 of the Health Act, 1947 in accordance with the Infectious Diseases (Maintenance) Regulations, 1986 ( S.I. No. 228 of 1986 ) to or in respect of himself or his dependants, in respect of the week ending on the 5th December, 1986, any amount so payable for that week shall be increased by a sum equal to sixty-five per cent of that amount.

EXPLANATORY NOTE.

The effect of these Regulations is to provide in respect of the week ending 5th December, 1986 for increases in the maximum rates of allowance payable under the Infectious Diseases (Maintenance) Regulations, 1986 ( S.I. No. 228 of 1986 ) by a sum equal to sixty-five per cent of those amounts.

The infectious diseases for which maintenance allowances are payable are acute anterior poliomyelitis, diphtheria, dysentery, salmonellosis, tuberculosis, typhoid and paratyphoid fevers, typhus and viral haemorrhagic diseases (including lassa fever and marburg disease).
