IRISH NATIONALITY AND CITIZENSHIP (FEES) REGULATIONS, 1986.

I, ALAN M. DUKES, Minister for Justice, in exercise of the powers conferred on me by section 3 of the Irish Nationality and Citizenship Act, 1956 (No. 26 of 1956), hereby, with the consent of the Minister for Finance, make the following Regulations:—

1. (1) These Regulations may be cited as the Irish Nationality and Citizenship (Fees) Regulations, 1986.

(2) The Irish Nationality and Citizenship (Fees) Regulations, 1983 ( S.I. No. 279 of 1983 ), and these Regulations may be cited together as the Irish Nationality and Citizenship (Fees) Regulations, 1983 and 1986.

2. In these Regulations "the Regulations of 1983" means the Irish Nationality and Citizenship (Fees) Regulations, 1983 ( S.I. No. 279 of 1983 ).

3. Item 1 in the Schedule to the Regulations of 1983 is hereby amended by the deletion of "woman".

4. Item 11 in the Schedule to the Regulations of 1983 is hereby amended by the substitution of the following paragraphs for paragraphs (b) and (c), respectively:

"( b ) where the application is made by a person whose spouse is an Irish citizen by naturalisation.

( c ) where the application is made by a widow or widower whose spouse was, immediately before death, an Irish citizen, and who has not, subsequent to the spouse's death, become a naturalised citizen of any other country."

5. Item 11 in the Schedule to the Regulations of 1983 is hereby amended by the substitution for paragraph (e) of the following paragraphs:—

"(e) where the application is made by or on behalf of a refugee or Stateless person, referred to in section 16 of the Irish Nationality and Citizenship Act, 1956 , the following fees shall be substituted for those at (a), (b), (c) and (f), respectively — £1, £2, £2, and £5.

( f ) in the case of any other application £150.00".

EXPLANATORY NOTE.

The purpose of these Regulations is to make amendments to the Irish Nationality and Citizenship (Fees) Regulations, 1983 ( S.I. No. 279 of 1983 ) and to prescribe fees for refugees and Stateless persons.
