GALWAY COUNTY COUNCIL (AMENDMENT) ORDER, 1985.

The Minister for the Environment, in exercise of the powers conferred on him by section 33 (7) of the Local Government Act, 1941 (No. 23 of 1941) and sections 20 and 21 of the Local Government (Reorganisation) Act, 1985 (No. 7 of 1985), hereby orders as follows:—

1. This Order may be cited as the Galway County Council (Amendment) Order, 1985.

2. (1) The total number of members of the Council of the County of Galway shall be 30.

(2) Article (2) of the Galway County Council Order, 1942 is hereby revoked.

(3) The Schedule to the Galway County Council (Amendment) Order, 1974 ( S.I. No. 47 of 1974 ) is hereby amended by:—

(a) the substitution of "7" for "6" in the third column opposite the mention of the Loughrea county electoral area;

(b) the deletion of the references to the district electoral divisions of Beaghmore, Claretuam, Donaghpatrick and Kilcoona in the entry in relation to the Tuam county electoral area;

(c) the substitution of the following matter for the matter relating to the Connemara county electoral area—

EXPLANATORY NOTE.

The effect of this Order is to alter the membership of the Council of the County of Galway and to amend the division of the said County into county electoral areas.
