S.I. No. 92/1984 - European Communities (Vinyl Chloride in Food) (Method of Analysis) Regulations, 1984.


The Minister for Health, in exercise of the powers conferred on him by Section 3 of the European Communities Act, 1972 (No. 27 of 1972), hereby makes the following Regulations:

1. These Regulations may be cited as the European Communities (Vinyl Chloride in Food) (Method of Analysis) Regulations, 1984.

2. These Regulations shall come into operation on the 1st day of May, 1984.

3. (1) In these Regulations—

"the Directive" means Commission Directive 81/432/EEC.1

"public analyst" means an analyst appointed by a health board to carry out the duties of a public analyst for the area of a health board or an analyst appointed by a health board to be a public analyst for its area.

(2) In these Regulations words and phrases shall have the same meaning as in the Directive.

4. The content of vinyl chloride in foods shall be determined by a public analyst or person under his direction in accordance with the method of analysis laid down in the Directive.

EXPLANATORY NOTE.

The Regulations specify the method of analysis to be used by a public analyst or person under his direction to determine the content of vinyl chloride in food.

The Regulations implement EEC Directive No. 81/432/EEC of 9th April, 1981, which lays down the Community method of analysis for the official control of vinyl chloride released by materials and articles into foodstuffs.

The Regulations come into operation on 1st May, 1984.
