EUROPEAN COMMUNITIES (IMPOSITION OF ANTI-DUMPING DUTY ON CERTAIN GOODS OF IRON AND STEEL) REGULATIONS, 1978 (AMENDMENT) REGULATIONS, 1984.

I, JOHN BRUTON, Minister for Industry, Trade, Commerce and Tourism, in exercise of the powers conferred on me by section 3 of the European Communities Act, 1972 (No. 27 of 1972), and for the purpose of giving effect to Commission Recommendation No. 874/83/ECSC of the 12th day of April, 19831, hereby make the following Regulations:

1. These Regulations may be cited as the European Communities (Imposition of Anti-Dumping Duty on Certain Goods of Iron and Steel), Regulations 1978 (Amendment) Regulations 1984.

2. A word or expression that is used in these Regulations and is also used in Commission Recommendation No. 874/83/ECSC of the 12th April, 1983, shall, unless the contrary intention appears, have in these Regulations the same meaning as it has in that Recommendation.

3. (1) The European Communities (Imposition of Anti-Dumping Duty on Certain Goods of Iron and Steel) Regulations, 1978 ( S.I. No. 307 of 1978 ), are hereby amended in so far as they relate to goods which originate in the German Democratic Republic by the substitution for Article 5 of the following Article:

"5. The duty imposed by these Regulations, shall be the amount by which the effective price (basic price plus extras) established by contract, free at frontier, duty paid, is lower than the most recent effective price (basic price plus extras) published by the Commission which is applicable to the goods concerned at the time of their entry for consumption within the Community.".

(2) This Article shall be deemed to have come into operation on the 16th day of April, 1983.

EXPLANATORY NOTE

These Regulations provide for the amendment of S.I. No. 307 of 1978 in so far as it relates to the amount of the definitive anti-dumping duty to be levied on imports of certain iron and steel goods which originate in the German Democratic Republic.
