TRADE UNION ACT, 1975 (SECTION 17) (COMMENCEMENT) ORDER, 1983.

I, LIAM KAVANAGH, Minister for Labour, in exercise of the power conferred on me by section 17 (3) of the Trade Union Act, 1975 (No. 4 of 1975), hereby make the following Order:

1. This Order may be cited as the Trade Union Act, 1975 (Section 17) (Commencement) Order, 1983.

2. The 1st day of July, 1983, is hereby fixed as the date on which section 17 of the Trade Union Act, 1975 , so far as it applies to an existing holder of a negotiation licence, shall come into operation.

EXPLANATORY NOTE.

This Order appoints the date on which section 17 of the Trade Union Act, 1975 , so far as it applies to existing holders of a negotiation licence, shall come into operation. Section 17 provides that a trade union under the law of another country shall not hold or be granted a negotiation licence unless it has a committee of management resident in the State or Northern Ireland which is empowered to make certain decisions.
