EXPLANATORY NOTE.

(This note is not part of the Instrument and does not purport to be a legal interpretation.)

Paragraph 4 of the Second Schedule to the Solicitors' Act, 1954 (No. 36 of 1954) fixes the term to be served under indentures of apprenticeship at three years for a person who, having been called to the bar, has, before becoming bound, procured himself to be disbarred. Regulation 26 (i) of S.I. No. 66 of 1975 relates to such a person and exempts him from the Preliminary Examination and from the Final Examination—First Part. The new Regulation now substituted for Regulation 26 (i) makes provision for the exemption from the Final Examination—First Part being at the discretion of the Education Committee and for such exemptions being granted in whole or in part.
