MONEY ORDER AMENDMENT (No. 25) REGULATIONS, 1981.

I, ALBERT REYNOLDS, Minister for Posts and Telegraphs, in exercise of the powers conferred on me by section 23 of the Post Office Act, 1908, section 3 of the Post Office (Amendment) Act, 1969 (No. 18 of 1969), and with the consent of the Minister for Finance, hereby make the following regulations:

1. These Regulations may be cited as the Money Order Amendment (No. 25) Regulations, 1981.

2. These Regulations shall come into operation on the 1st day of April, 1981.

3. The Interpretation Act, 1937 (No. 38 of 1937), applies to these Regulations.

4. In these Regulations "the Principal Regulations" means the Money Order Regulations, 1903.

5. Regulation 18 (1) of the Principal Regulations, is hereby amended by the substitution of the following tables for Tables A, B and C (inserted by Regulation 4 of the Money Order Amendment (No. 24) Regulations, 1980 ( S.I. No. 204 of 1980 )) which set out the poundage payable in respect of money orders:

6. Regulation 25 of the Principal Regulations as amended by Regulation 6 of the Money Order Amendment (No. 19) Regulations, 1971 ( S.I. No. 35 of 1971 ), is hereby amended by the substitution of "a supplementary fee of two new pence" for "a supplementary fee of one new penny".

7. The following Regulation shall be substituted for Regulation 26 of the Principal Regulations (inserted by Regulation 2 of the Money Order Amendment (No. 13) Regulations, 1929 ( S. R. & O. No. 14 of 1929 ):

"26. In the case of every telegraph money order issued in the State and payable in another country or territory, other than the United Kingdom, a supplementary fee of ten new pence shall be charged and prepaid in addition to the poundage payable in respect of a foreign money order under Regulation 18 of these Regulations."

EXPLANATORY NOTE.

This warrant applies to the Money Order service and comes into operation on the 1st April, 1981. It authorises increases in charges on inland and foreign money orders, telegraph money orders and in other miscellaneous charges.
